Pool I Round-Robin Game
Game 1
Blade of Thorns took maximum infantry, six wights and few archers for this game, Ancrik taking four wights and more archers. The game was on, and both sides actively hunted wights with ghols, BoT nailing one and Ancrik hunting down two. BoT used a third wight to take out one of Ancrik's, and their remaining three were chased out of the water by Ancrik's thrall and tagged by a sacrificial ghol... boom, several BoT thrall being turned into flying pieces of armor. Ancrik started an archer war and forced BoT to charge them. The ensuing melee was a walkover for Ancrik, as they got a wight in the middle of BoT's troops and BoT forgot to commit one battalion of their warriors. Game 2
Both armies were identical for this game: maximum warriors, thrall, and ghols, two wights and twelve archers. BoT managed to stop Ancrik's ghol rush, but were unable to respond with any ghol scouts of their own. Ancrik nailed one wight under the water in the north, and sent out small warrior + ghol flanks. BoT split into three to handle these flanks. Meanwhile, Ancrik's center thrall crossed the river and got wighted, then ran headlong into BoT's north force. BoT's south force had a long chase but eventually managed to corner the S Ancrik flank, while the Ancrik center force's warriors ran off chasing ghols and were exterminated by the BoT north force. An easy cleanup for BoT with the aid of Aenima's super-veteran warriors. Game 3
Blade of Thorns opted for a heavy center, which forced Ancrik off their center flag. Ancrik tagged four flags first, forcing BoT to try an attack. This attack didn't go so well due to indecisiveness and poor trow work. The second wave nearly reached the Ancrik defenses, but was a few seconds too late to contest as the timer ran out. Match Summary (films)
Ancrik showed Blade of Thorns that you must be a well-oiled fighting machine to triumph in the Myth World Cup's cut-throat competition; an excellent set of rock'em sock'em games of Myth result in both sides beating each other to a standstill. This tie combined with their late start may be enough to put Blade of Thorns out of the MWC before they even really start. We'll see when the final results are published. - Butcher
