Pool I Round-Robin Game
Game 1
Both teams start their first game of the series up with mixed forces according to old-school Myth playing. Archer-heavy, medium amount of ghols and with lots of wights. Ancrik gets some very good traffic control at start and steam towards the center crossing with warriors. The wights, however are sent astray to east and are dangerously exposed to hunting ghols. Ancrik doesn't stop on their side of the water, but decide to give the SoS archers a scare and chase them up the shore, but pay by some minor damage from arrows when retreating. SoS dunks two wights east just before an Ancrik ghol can reach them, but two thrall are already marching towards the waters on a course for the wights. The wights try to flee their assasins by going west. Ancrik sends a wight into the waters and pops them both to avoid any casualties. Ancrik does however miss a golden opporunity to get a very good hit on the massive formation of thrall in the easter waters. Ancrik's second east wight gets killed by an SoS ghol before being able to hide in the waters. SoS does some reckless standing by at center and lets Ancrik's archers use them for target practice. Not until they have sustained some major damage does SoS move in their own archers to counter. Ancrik's aggressive positioning of warriors in center gets hits from SoS archers. Ancrik decides to wight them and manages to do so quite well, taking out a few archers and damaged thrall. Ancrik's warriors move up, but linger back and forth, taking damage at first. It looks as if they are being strangely indecisive, but as a wight rises from the eastern deapths, one understands why. About 2/3 of SoS' warriors sustain damage of 50% or more. It is after this clear who the winner is. Ancrik wins the game, but does not manage to keep their forces over 40% and lose some minor points. Game 2
It is obvious in looking at both teams' setups that they follow old-school Myth rules. Archers are numerous, pus is non-existent and troops are mixed. Ancrik sends all thrall and archers as bridge guards while distributing warriors and ghols equally among the three crossings. SoS sends a large thrall formation north, a slightly smaller one to the south and does some very strange maneuvering with their warriors around center and south of the bridge. An SoS wight is popped to the south and one is inserted into the all-too shallow waters even further south, being popped shorty thereafter by a single thrall. Ancriks attacks the dangerously exposed center with their northern and center warriors and ghols and kill off all SoS archers. The south in trying to assist the battle at first get pummelled by the large warrior presence of SoS, but start forming a a strange column, consisting of warriors of both teams running for the center. Ancrik starts moving it's thrall across the bridge, but fail to cut SoS' path across the bridge and lose all archers. After doing some damage the SoS warriors are cut down swiftly and all that remains for Ancrik is to finish off the thrall guarding the flags. Some rather haphazard fighting in the north gets Ancrik the flag after some losses. The southern thrall force of SoS move north and gets cut down while Ancrik undead capture a sixth flag for full points in game 2. Game 3
SoS gets it's chance to get a lone win in game 3 by getting the advantegous southwestern position in contrast to Ancriks rather bad southeast starting point. SoS fails to take advantage of this by being slow at the start and arrive at the southern V flag only to see it contested by Ancriks rushing berserks. The SoS berserks are cut down just before their warrior reinforcements can arrive, but these are cut down shortly thereafter. In center Ancrik beats up SoS' guard of flag I, losing flag II to SoS, but never the less removing two trow from the game. The odds are now in heavy favor for Ancrik as they lead with a massive 94% to 34% in remaining forces and with 4 captured flags. Both teams set off for the flags they have yet to capture, but SoS has no guard left and does not even succeed in winning the race for the northeaster flag before Ancrik gets the 5th and wins the game. Match Summary (films)
A nice nostalgia trip of a series, I say. It's nice to see that some of the old traditions, no matter how outdated they seem, still live on. God bless the conservatives! As for SoS: practice, practice, practice... - The Crimson King
