Pool O Round-Robin Game
Game 1
CL started southwest with Kg in the NE. Both teams opted for maximum warriors, max thrall, 4 wights, and a smattering of ghols and archers. The initial game saw CL insert two wights successfully into the deep east water as all other wights were hunted by ghols. The King's guard tried the risky move of inserting wights under cover of archer fire. This combined with some misfires against submerged thrall handidly gave the archer war to the Crimson Legion. With a look of glee and a rumbling roar the two remaining wights of CL triggered an explosion that ripped through a good number of Kg's submergred thrall. From this point on the conclusion of this battle was little in doubt. Smart use of thrall to draw in the warriors of Kg provoked TheOgre to say "I've never seen a thrall feint like so before. It suckered me completely." A silent OOS message left some question as to the exact % remaining for each team. Nevertheless, this game was a solid win for the Crimson Legion. Game 2
While CL chose four wights Kg opted instead to melt two wights into pus (all other units choices were even). Starting in the east Kg send a reinforced warrior flank to the south (with a thrall platoon trailing). Cl opted for a large, mobile flank coming in from the north. Severe lack of wight hunting by Kg allowed all 4 of Cl's wights to reach the safety of deep water. Once again CL showed its ability to lure an enemy into certain death as 9 warriors drew soldiers of the king's guard not once but twice into the waiting maws of wights. Taking advantage of superior numbers in the middle of the map the forces of the Crimson Legion crossed the bridge and in coordination with the flank sandwiched the eastern Kg troops. As this happened Beastman's southern flank successfully engaged the CL archers who were left hung out to dry in the west. As Kg attempted to form back up for a counter attack on the now numerically superior CL army, simultaneous wight explosions both softened the remaining Kg warriors and the snorkelling Kg thrall who had been happily steaming up the river towards the bridge. A climactic battle then occured on the bridge and unsuprisingly CL was victorious. Due to superior flag grabbing Kg was actually 5 seconds away from a six flag victory at this point. However, this was noticed just a little too late and by the time Kg's hidden ghols sprung to action CL had all but wiped the King's guard off the map. With an overwhelming numbers edge the crimson legion proceeded to advance towards a six flag victory. Game 3
Luck did not smile upon Kg this game as they started in the SE (CL was fortunate to possess the N start). Both armies sent 3 trow to the middle with Kg sending mixed infatry to the south and no units to the NE. Due to this strategy CL opened up an early 3 flags to 2 lead. Kg then sent a platoon of zerks from the middle to take and overwhelm the depleted CL zerks in the NE. As this happened all 3 trow of Kg almost managed to draw the strong middle defense of Cl off a suprisingly well guarded flag 1. The crimson legion manages to recover in time and marshals a defense around this middle flag. With the bravado that can be only found in a trow CL charged the southern warriors of the king's guard. 13 warriors were more than enough for a trow and this skirmish ended with half a dozen warriors standing proud on the southern flag. A lone berzerk of CL proceeded to lure these warriors in a merry trip around a tree at the same time that Kg assaulted flag 1 in a well coordinated 3 pronged attack. The end result was that both teams tagged five flags (with CL winning by a few seconds). Match Summary (films)
