Pool P Round-Robin Game
Game 1
The Dwarves took two wights, and an archer-heavy army. This contrasted with the Swedish Bastard Squad's four wights, one of which was healed for pus. Excellent wight hunting by #CP#D got all three of the remaining SBS wights, plus they also forced SBS's ghols to waste their pus. #CP#D then initiated an archer war, which they won handily. SBS charged them with some thrall, which were easily taken out. Meanwhile, #CP#D nailed the other thrall battalion in the east with a wight. The main battle was characterised by massive friendly fire from #CP#D's archers, but they still won the battle convincingly due to late thrall commitment by SBS. From Skalman of SBS: "Our enemy's excellent use of the wight hunters and SBS's totally disorganised attack on creep meant everything in the first game. We never really knew what hit us when there were ghols everywhere among our own troops detonating our wights. After that we couldn't get organised while #CP#D kept their cool. We were four and they were two but it seemed like the other way around." Game 2
#CP#D took no wights, and max ghols. They set their army up in a juggernaut configuration in the middle, contrasted with SBS's four wights, three dwarves, and three-way split. In the opening game, #CP#D hunted two wights and one dwarf, and nailed one SBS wight underwater. Meanwhile, the SBS center force was sorely outnumbered, and #CP#D crushed it handily. SBS's south and north forces combined on the #CP#D home flag and killed the few flag guards easily. This made the dwarves mad, and a furious main force recrossed the bridge and fell upon the SBS army. They won the battle, but were left with only thrall, which were insufficient to let them take all the flags before the end. The final result was 3 flags all. From Skalman of SBS: "The second game swayed back and forth and we didn't really know if we were winning or not. #CP#D took three flags at the end and managed to keep their point advantage from the first creep game." Game 3
Both armies sent a strong force to the middle, defending one flag. #CP#D tagged both of their flank flags, but SBS only got the far flank, as their zerks to the shared flank flag put a big smile on the face of Sven's trow. The middle battle was a shambles, with the final line of defense (Blackbeard's three warriors) holding off SBS's last injured trow. #CP#D then sent two badly damaged trow to take the final flag, which was only guarded by a handful of warriors. From Skalman of SBS: "The third game, hosted by Skalman, was disconnected, leaving CP#D with the option to take 8 pts. Honourable people that they are, they gave us a rematch. Kudos to them, we salute them. To win the entire game, we had to keep #CP#D from tagging more than 3 flags AND win ourselves. Well, that was two objectives we couldn't fulfill. =)" Match Summary (films)
The Dwarves pull off a win, after some very close battles in Games 2 and 3. From the sounds of it, a fun time was had by all! - Butcher
