Game 2
Game 1
Blade of Thorns split off into the two darkly-hued, menacing teams of Aenima, Mordia, Khayman and Malory, Samurai Cat!, Case. Meanwhile, the Temps have painted their thrall in the most lurid colour scheme possible; high-colour pink and green for Carch and The Deacon, and fluorescent orange and yellow for Kuniklo and Kevin Matchstick. It's not yet known why this is; some speculate it's for ease of recognition, others say that it will be used in combination with LSD in the drinking water, but one thing is for certain: before the match has begun, the Temps are already a sight to strike fear into the heart of mortal men. The Temps start in the northeast and southwest, and choose maximum infantry and journeymen. Meanwhile, Blade of Thorns scheme from their haunts in the northwest and southeast, Mordia's dwarf cackling with glee at the prospect of fire and blood to come. The starting bell sounds, and the dwarf is off from his northwest position to the east, striking at the Temps' warriors with his warrior escort for protection. The dwarf and warrior combination is doing very well, until the Temps' pus ghols are ready and they strike with furious vengeance. An incredibly messy mini-fight ensues, with 3 ghol reinforcements from Khayman coming to help. These ghols are the only units to survive the fight, save one maimed Temp ghol that is quickly chased off. While this is happening, the southern armies have swept clockwise, ending up in the northwest. Case's warriors get mauled by pus, but fortunately a journeyman is standing by to heal them. A large battle starts between Aenima and Kuniklo's armies, which is won by Aenima due to late warrior commitment by the Temps. The remnants of the drab-grey BoT army (now spattered with red blood and orange pieces of armor) move in to attack Carch's remaining thrall, and Case's super-veteran warriors charge in enthusiastically only to be surrounded and killed. The Blade of Thorns thrall stand triumphant on the battlefield, just as the three-minute mark sounds. But wait - isn't this game about balls? The current situation: Blade of Thorns have twenty-six thrall and two ghols. The Temps, however, have a journeyman, a warrior, three ghols and three thrall. They quickly dash about, grabbing and running with balls. Time ticks down, until Malory and Aenima hit upon a brilliant plan - contest the last ball between their thrall to ensure that the lumbering forces of BoT prevail! They rush to get this set up, and do so with two seconds left on the clock. The next few minutes are a grim story to recount, as the carefree, brightly-coloured warriors and ghols of the Temps are hunted down and killed by their tireless undead foes. Carch's journeyman comes very close to killing Malory's lone contesting thrall, but he doesn't quite get the heal off and dies, the timer still stopped on Sudden Death. And so, after seven minutes and twenty-nine seconds, the last of the Temp foes falls and the battlefield is silent. And the thrall stand, silently raising their axes in salute to their adversaries, who have not had the staying power to remain. Endure. Game 2
This game, the Blade of Thorns started in the northeast and southwest, while the Temps' forces started in the center and southeast. The Temps formed up into a single colour-clashing mass in the center, while Blade of Thorns prowled anti-clockwise around the outside of the hill. BoT's north army initiated a conflict with Carch and Kuniklo's warriors, while Kevin Matchstick tried a pus run on Mordia's warriors and lost five ghols and a journeyman. A nice pussing by Carch took Case apart quite quickly, however the Temps suffered heavy friendly fire casulties on their warriors while Mordia's dwarf invaded the hill from the south and started taking Kuniklo's thrall to pieces. The Deacon sent his journeyman in to try and heal Kuniklo's warriors but got killed for his trouble. Khayman then snuck a wight up on Carch's archers (I have no idea how, must be that special Blade of Thorns stealth coating) and boom. With their journeymen gone, the Temps' veterans were still badly wounded, to the extent that Khayman's three ghols took on two warriors and a thrall and won with no casualties! The green Blade of Thorns army was able to do a nice bait and switch to tag the final ball and force an early sudden death for the win. Game 3
Blade of Thorns started in the northwest, the Temps in the northeast. Temps went for three wights for pus, ten archers and twelve warriors. Oddly enough, the Blade of Thorns took precisely the same set of troops. Both armies sent the majority of their armies to the center. A long and involved pus dance started in the middle, and the Temps decided that they could win a zerk and forest giant versus zerks, warriors and forest giant battle. They were wrong, but they did a lot of damage and managed to nail the BoT journeyman. In their haste to stop the wounded Temps' giant from healing, BoT's forest giant followed and overlooked a lone pus-laden ghol. The Temps' giant turned around and was able to quickly destroy the paralyzed forest giant. The Temps then started an archer war, Samurai Cat charged his warriors in and got killed. BoT's remaining five zerks were all taken out by a single pus ghol (they were badly injured to start with), and it was all over. No cleanup necessary, Blade of Thorns lay dead on the ground. Game 4
The Temps started in the northwest, Blade of Thorns in the southwest. Both armies went towards the middle, and a confrontation developed on the long, narrow ridge in the mid-west. Blade of Thorns were able to pus the Temps' giant, but they pushed too far forward in an attempt to take it out. Their zerks were cut down easily without any warrior support. After the Temps' giant unfroze, the BoT giant followed him and inflicted a lot of damage, but was frozen by the hail of arrows from the Temps. The Temps polished up their infantry battle easily, and then chased down Khayman's archers, who were off on a sightseeing expedition to the center. Game over by elimination (again). Game 5
The first attempt at this game suffered a silent OOS, and due to the closeness of the match BoT agreed to the Temps' request for a replay. Blade of Thorns started in the northwest, while the Temps started southeast. Both armies took eight soulless, and a mix of warriors and thrall. The Temps split their soulless into two groups of four (controlled by different people), and Blade of Thorns is quick to capitalise on this; they chase one group away with their large group of eight, killing one and wounding two others. Meanwhile, Malory sees the chance to sacrifice a few warriors to trap the Temps' warriors in a warrior and thrall pincer. The Temps oblige, and their warriors are killed quickly. Meanwhile, the Temps' other soulless group is picking at the BoT thrall; their soulless return and kill three of this group of four. The Temps' thrall arrive, and charge into 3:2 odds thrall vs thrall. They are wiped out. The Temps are down to two warriors and three soulless versus many thrall and seven soulless, and they cannot hold the flag at the end versus overwhelming force. Match Summary (films)
Blade of Thorns show how their love of thrall can pay off, but in the RiP games they are lost without their beloved thrall and fall to the Temps. The final tiebreaker is won decisively by BoT, which lets them advance to the next round. - Butcher
