Game 13
Game 1
First, a note about this match: the Kingdom of Darkness was only able to field two players, one of whom was Boblet. Boblet lives in New Zealand and is a good friend of mine, so I am able to recount his heartbreak here for you. :) Unfortunately, the only time that the match could be scheduled for fell during working hours here at the University of Otago, when our campus network is totally saturated. Boblet decided to battle 2+ second pings to try and log onto bungie.net anyway, just in case some of his team decided not to show up. Imagine his horror to find that only one other member (Dagorlord) had turned up, out of their eight-member roster. Boblet tried to help, but he was only able to stay connected for the start of the first game, and never got to move his troops that game before being cruelly disconnected. This game, FR started in the center and northwest, while Dagorlord started northeast and Boblet in the southeast. Krunch's team (consisting of Krunch and Aaron Three, playing under the nom-de-plume 'Bubba') and Boblet took maximum infantry and a journeyman, while Domino took heavy infantry and three archers, and Dagorlord took maximum infantry and a dwarf. Boblet lagged out shortly after selecting his units. The game started, and Dagorlord (obviously fearing for his life) collected two balls and fortified his position, spending most of his attention on his roving ghols. Meanwhile, FR collected the other seven balls and put them all in the pit to the north of the hill. At 5 minutes remaining, Domino got tired of the waiting game and engaged Dagorlord, his warriors and thrall making short work of Dagorlord's eager warriors, and quickly taking the thrall to pieces as well. An easy (and hollow) victory for Final Reign. Game 2
Since Boblet did not return, Dagorlord chose to forfeit this game rather than face 2 vs 1 odds again. Game 3
FR started in the southwest and selected two wights for pus, with seven archers. Dagorlord (on his own again) started in the northeast and took no pus, with eleven archers. Final Reign went to the center, Dagorlord sending his zerks SE and his forest giant NW, while forfifying his home flag. Krunch's forest giant went on a slapping rampage and through good use of terrain (and inattention from Dagorlord) was able to eliminate Dagorlord's zerks, returning for a well-deserved heal. Dagorlord's ghols were also mown down by the advancing FR army. The endgame saw Dagorlord's army retreating to a fortified position just behind his home flag, with FR bringing all their forces to bear. The Final Reign army moved in, and onto the unguarded flag that was out in front of Dagorlord's army. This happened to be the last flag for them, and the battle was abruptly terminated by sudden death. Game 4
The competitors seem to have lost the film to this game, but they tell me that FR was able to eliminate the KD forces to win 12-0. Game 5
Final Reign started in the northwest, while Dagorlord (again the sole KD champion) started in the center atop the flag. Both armies took maximum soulless, and infantry; Dagorlord's soulless quickly took up an elevated position on the large rock to the north-northeast. Final Reign split their soulless between Krunch and Bubba, and started harassing the KD infantry, managing to pull Dagorlord's soulless off their perch and down into the bowl. With a severe height disadvantage, Dagorlord's soulless lost 2 for 1, before retreating. FR pushed their soulless advantage and harassed KD's infantry some more, and again KD's soulless moved off the hill in response. This time they were destroyed, FR with five soulless remaining. Despite Krunch's soulless accidentally killing one of Bubba's, the FR soulless rained spears down on the Army of Darkness and it eventually charged into FR's infantry. As time ran out, FR held Dagorlord's army away from the flag for the win. Match Summary (films)
A poor showing (1 player) basically doomed the Kingdom of Darkness from the start. Dagorlord fought well, but was defeated 5-0. We all mourn the passing of the Kingdom, and it's a shame their bold chicken flag will no longer be flown over a MWC match. - Butcher
