Team Units Lost Points Scoring Breakdown Result
Rabble Forces 49 8 11 balls + win Win
Foundation 78 1 2 balls Loss

At the start of this game, RF takes maximum infantry and one dwarf, opting to spend the remainder of their points on wights. Foundation decide to spend their spare points on archers instead. Both armies head inexorably towards the center of the map, Renwood doing a fast flank with warrior captains and queens. This flanking force does some serious damage to F's outlying warrior forces before the battle even starts.

The RF horde charges in a block, pushing back Foundation's front and forcing battle in a small open area. As the battle starts, Renwood's elite troops come in from the side, inflicting severe damage. When the dust settles, Foundation's spiders are the only troops left. Guerilla tactics manage to take out quite a few troops in the mop-up, but they are unable to hold on to enough balls to win.

Game 2

Game 2 Results
Team Units Lost Points Scoring Breakdown Result
Rabble Forces 48 9 win by elimination Win
Foundation 83 0   Loss

This game, both armies take the same troop setup, but the start positions are swapped. The RF captain (Leonidas) lags out early on, but the game continues. Foundation's flanking force starts to draw off RF's northern half of the army, setting up for a quick thrust center. Fortunately for RF, they realise this and are able to regroup in time.

The captain + spider forces clash in the north, at the same time as the middle armies begin to fight. RF's flank wins convincingly (due to their opponents trying to run away) and these elite forces dash south to the main battle, succeeding in swinging the battle in RF's favour. Foundation's last journeyman is eliminated for a maximum-points win.

Game 3

Game 3 Results
Team Units Lost Points Scoring Breakdown Result
Rabble Forces 54 12 win + 9 flags Win
Foundation 54 6 6 flags Loss

After some colour rearranging (Chameleon is colour-blind, and the cerulean and tan team colours were indistinguishable), the dual-team games begin. Nobody starts in the middle, while RF have the two north positions and Foundation the two south positions.

Initially, everyone rushes for the center with spiders. Renwood brings his entire army to the center as well (leaving no flag guards), and manages to force the SW Foundation team away without a tag. Foundation fumble the flag swap in the southeast as well, which gives RF an early 6-4 lead.

Renwood again leaves his flag almost unguarded and sends his entire force SE. He mounts a haphazard attack, which is saved by Foundation's SE force wighting their SW ally when they come to help (!). The RF attack succeeds, just. Meanwhile, RF's northwest flag is under attack, and they are frantically yelling out "Moo!"... one can only assume that this is a call for help. They manage to fight off their attackers, and mount a last-ditch attack to take the southwest flag. The flag counts are 5/4/4/2, giving RF another win.

Game 4

Game 4 Results
Team Units Lost Points Scoring Breakdown Result
Rabble Forces 28 12 win + 9 flags Win
Foundation 41 8 8 flags Loss

This game, Foundation start in the center and southwest, while RF are in the southeast and northeast. Frantic flag tagging starts, but RF show little interest in the empty NW flag. Once again, Renwood's team (this time, captained by Umbra) mounts an attack and leaves very little on the home flag. This time, it doesn't pay off and their home flag is taken.

Luckily for RF, Klaw's zerks go mad in the middle and kill all of their ally's zerks and his fetch as well. This allows RF to take the center flag handily, and they still have an entire army unused (Dminor's forces had a total of -0.2% damage for the game). Perhaps the low point of the match for Foundation.

Game 5

Game 5 Results
Team Units Lost Points Scoring Breakdown Result
Rabble Forces 47 0   Loss
Foundation 24 10 win by elimination Win

This game, Rabble Forces are in the southwest, while Foundation start southeast. Foundation's zerks head south, while RF split them half and half, middle and northeast. A large battle happens in the middle, and RF's zerks are outnumbered at the start; being sandwiched between thrall doesn't help their survival chances. Very easy cleanup for Foundation to win.

Rabble Forces 8 9 12 12 0 41 Win
Foundation 1 0 6 8 10 25 Loss

Rabble Forces belie their name again to come through and win the match. I have to admit that I considered them the underdogs after I myself played against Foundation last round, but all that can really be said about this match: "The winner is the one who makes the second-largest mistake." Virtually every game of Myth is decided by a critical blunder, and this time Foundation were eager to prove the aphorism correct.

If we were giving out 'Man of the Match' awards, Renwood would surely gather one this time, for his psychotic killing sprees. Check out the first game; Renwood kills 37 units with his nine, losing only four in the process. The second game is very similar, and these two games were the foundation of RF's victory in this match.

It's worth noting that Hadrian (Foundation's usual captain and a very formidable opponent) was absent from the match; this may have played a large part in their defeat.

Foundation aren't relegated to the bench quite yet; they will now play the loser of the other semi-final, for a chance at the third-place trophy. Meanwhile, Rabble Forces go on to the Grand Final, where they will face off for the MWC's grand prize... to be announced at the match. :)
