WORMWOOD

      WILLIAM WORMWOOD , b. probably in England., d. in 1690. He was a witness to a deed by John Lander in Kittery in 1639.[1][3] He was living on Starr Island[1] in the Isle of Shoals in 1647. He took the Oath of Allegience 22 Mar 1681.[2]  

        William m. (1) CATHERINE _____, the mother of his children. She was ordered o be brought to the General Court as a prisoner in 1647.[2] She testified in court in 1650.[1] He married perhaps (2) Mary _____.[1]

        While living on Starr Island William was accused of improper business dealings with sailors. In 1647 he was ordered off the island and directed to live on the mainland.[1]   He sold land to Thomas Crockett before 1647.[1]

       On 3 Dec. 1690 Mary Wormwood (possibly his widow, a second wife) prresented the inventory of his estate taken by Arthur Came and John Hovie to the Court.[4] His estate was valued at 25 pounds.[3]
