Detailed
Review -
-
Kyle, Willie, Mike, Juliet, and Elizabeth are
chased down an abandoned street by a Visitor patrol led by Lt. James.
They head into an alley that turns out to be a dead end, and are trapped
by the Visitors. Elizabeth's powers have left her, and the Resistance
decide to go out fighting, realizing that they will most likely be killed.
As James' soldiers prepare to fire, they are interrupted by Philip's voice
on loudspeaker announcing 'Cease all hostilities. All Visitor troops
are to return to the Mothership immediately'. James is preparing
to disobey the order until it is repeated, and his troops lay aside their
weapons.
-
Diana storms onto the bridge irate at Lydia, but
is informed by Philip that he ordered the ceasefire under the authority
of the Leader, who will be arriving for peace negotiations. Diana
accuses Philip of being a traitor, and Philip assures Diana that the Leader
will not listen to her.
-
At Resistance Headquarters, Juliet confirms reports
of Visitor withdrawal from London, Paris, and New York. All are unsure
about this latest development. Willie leaves the discussion to find
Elizabeth in another room, intoning in a deep voice in Visitor-ese.
Kyle, believing that the Visitors are 'messing with her mind', quickly
calls the others, while Willie explains that the Leader can communicate
with whomever he wishes, and that Elizabeth is in contact with him.
Over Kyle's protests, Elizabeth insists that she must go to the Mothership.
When Philip arrives, he explains that the Leader believes that Elizabeth
is the source of truth, as she is the blending of two cultures. Philip
has been in constant contact with the Leader trying to convince him that
their two worlds can live in peace. Philip believes that Elizabeth
will enable him to see this. The Resistance agrees to let her go
to the Mothership, but only if they go with her.
-
The Motherships are seen leaving their orbits
all over Earth, and world-wide, celebrations are taking place. Diana
wants to attack Earth again while the people least expect it, but Lydia
informs her that she will serve the Leader in any way that he sees fit.
-
The Resistance prepare to board the shuttle to
the Mothership, with Kyle indignant that they must leave all of their weapons
behind. Kyle feels that he is the only one who doesn't trust what
is happening, both with the ceasefire and with Elizabeth, who is dazed
by her contact with the Leader. Though Kyle believes she is being
brainwashed, Elizabeth tells him that, though he taught her about Earth
love, she is now experiencing a far greater love. Julie feels that
they can't stop Elizabeth, and they prepare to leave.
-
They are greeted on the Mothership by an honour
guard, and met at its head by Diana and Lydia. Diana, Mike, and Julie
share a tense greeting. Elizabeth is given a silk gown for her meeting
with the Leader, and when they are led away Diana and James plot to continue
the war.
-
Philip takes Mike on a tour of a Visitor gymnasium,
where Mike becomes interested in a Visitor sport somewhat like fencing
-- except that the swords are charged with nuclear disintegrators, where
the slightest touch would mean instant death. Philip challenges Mike
to a match with uncharged swords, which Mike accepts. When James
reports this to Diana, she orders him to ensure that the swords are charged
for the match.
-
Willie, wandering aimlessly in the corridors,
meets up with Thelma, his fiancé. Thinking he was dead, Thelma
is thrilled to see him, and assumes that they will take up where they left
off years ago. Willie is led away.
-
Before the fencing match, Mike informs Kyle that
he has a shuttle standing by in case anything happens to him. Mike
orders Kyle to get Elizabeth and the others and escape if they need to.
The match begins, with both parties seeming to be equally skilled.
At a signal from Diana, Lt. James pulls a device from his uniform, points
it at the duo, and activates the swords. A moment later Mike disarms
Philip, sending his sword flying into a nearby boulder where it explodes.
Stunned and suspicious, Mike touches his own sword to the ground, where
it too explodes. Shocked, Philip announces that he prepared
the swords himself, and Diana, acting incredulous, informs the others that
she will investigate the matter.
-
Later, Willie is interrupted in the shuttle bay
by Thelma. While she is full of plans for their future, especially
since their marriage was arranged before they were even hatched, he is
forced to tell her that he is unsure of his feelings and that he is going
to remain on Earth. Thelma runs off in tears.
-
In her cabin, Diana berates James for botching
the assassination of Philip. She plots now to overthrow the Leader,
and tells James that if he doesn't remain loyal to her, she will inform
Philip that the assassination attempt was all his idea. James agrees
to remain with Diana.
-
Elizabeth, dressed for the Leader in a low-cut
silk gown and with flowers in her hair, walks with Kyle in the corridor
while he tries once again to talk her out of what she is doing. They
kiss, but she tells him that she must go to see Philip, and then meet with
the Leader. Kyle wants to go with her to protect her, and tells her
again that he loves her, but she is not dissuaded. When Kyle leaves,
Diana arrives bringing a message for Elizabeth and subtly flirts with her.
Elizabeth rebuffs her, turns and leaves.
-
Elizabeth goes to Philip, telling him that her
mind is full of 'strange and inexplicable images' and 'mystic rites of
long ago' -- intense feelings that torture her. Philip explains that
she is experiencing the racial memory of her Visitor ancestry, and says
that he will teach her about the Visitors.
-
Mike and Julie discuss their situation, and agree
that when the Leader arrives Diana will be finished. Julie begins
to feel unsure about the peace process and the Leader, so Mike tells her
of his escape plan.
-
In another cabin, James supervises two Visitors
who are disguising themselves as humans. Activating a strobe light
device, they take on the appearance of two human men. James hands
them some kind of weapon, and they are told that their attack must look
like the work of the Resistance. The Visitors are assured that they
will soon be galactic heroes.
-
An honour guard, the Resistance, Philip, Diana,
Lydia, and James are all on hand when the Leader's shuttle arrives.
The disguised Visitors disarm some troopers on the catwalk, and activate
their weapon, destroying the Leader's shuttle. Diana orders the 'men'
on the catwalk shot, and declares that the Resistance have killed the Leader.
She orders her men to arrest the Resistance and Philip, grabbing Elizabeth
to her side. Kyle struggles to get to Elizabeth, when they
are interrupted by a voice announcing the arrival of the Leader's shuttle.
Philip informs them that he made the precaution of having the Leader arrive
on a second shuttle, in case of sabotage. Kyle demands the return
of Elizabeth -- Diana throws Elizabeth into Philip and Kyle, and she and
her troops run off. Diana orders James to seal all doors, and he
does so, narrowly missing being shot by the pursuing Mike, Julie, and Kyle.
Philip and Elizabeth, who is still communicating with the Leader, follow
slowly behind them.
-
Diana takes over the bridge and order that the
infusion reactors be set to reach critical mass. An officer obeys,
even though this means that both the Mothership and Earth will be destroyed.
Diana feels that if she can't rule, no one else will be able to either.
James dives through the bridge doors just as they are closing.
-
Willie,Thelma, Philip, and Elizabeth meet up with
the others at the locked bridge doors. Realizing that Diana is finished
on the home world, Philip figures out what she is doing, and leads the
others to the reactor hold, hoping to shut down the ships power supply.
Willie and Thelma are left behind to guard the first door. Thelma,
fearing that they were soon to die, asks Willie if he ever loved her.
They embrace and Willie gives Thelma her first kiss. He asks her
to marry him and remain on Earth, and she readily agrees.
-
Mike and Kyle discover that their laser blasts
cannot penetrate the reactor hold doors. Willie then arrives carrying
a white robe, which is placed on Elizabeth. Philip and Willie realize
that if the Leader designed everything, and the Leader is communicating
with Elizabeth, he can use her to get through the door. While Philip
attempts to speak to the Leader through Elizabeth, Juliet and Willie look
for a ventilation shaft entrance to the bridge.
-
The Leader, using Elizabeth, blasts open the doors.
Philip realizes that they cannot use their lasers for fear of damaging
the nuclear infusion equipment, so Mike and Kyle attack the guards hand-to-hand
while Philip keeps his laser trained on an escaping Diana.
The two Resistance men disable the Visitors. Elizabeth arrives and
Kyle smiles at her, only to have her answer in the Leader's voice: 'Good.
Very good'.
-
Diana and Lt. James watch the arrival of the Leader's
shuttle in handcuffs, but Diana vows to return to power. Philip and
Mike pledge friendship to one another. When the shuttle bay darkens,
Elizabeth begins moving towards its open door. Kyle tries to stop
her, but is held back by Willie and Mike. Julie tells Kyle that she
thinks Elizabeth needs to go.
-
Diana informs James of her latest plot -- she
has had a bomb planted on the Leaders shuttle. Elizabeth goes into
the shuttle, and as the door begins to close, Kyle walks away. The
Resistance watch the shuttle leave, and begin to walk back to their own
transport, when they realize that Kyle is missing. Julie realizes
that Kyle must have stowed away on the Leader's shuttle, and they all gaze
up at it in surprise.

was a Freedom Network broadcast this week, but no Medal of Valour winner
was announced.
Bloopers
and Nitpicks -
-
Elizabeth's whole storyline!!! The girl
is in constant contact with the Leader, her thoughts are (by her
own admission) not her own, the Resistance have no idea what is truly happening
to her, yet they all
think letting her be manipulated in this way is a good thing!??
Kyle's protests are dismissed as selfish
because he doesn't want to let her go... What??!!??
-
The Visitors being disguised as humans are seen
putting on the front half of human 'masks' -- no hair or
neck pieces. They turn on a strobe light, and suddenly they are transformed
into believable humans.
This is just a little too farfetched, even for me.
-
The Visitors on the catwalk are ordered to be
killed by Diana. Kyle then says: "They're disintegrated.
Now we'll never know who they are." The Visitors were shot
by simple laser blasts, one look at their
bodies would be enough to tell they are Visitors. Since when do laser
blasts cause disintegration?
-
Mike makes a big deal out of the fact that they
came to the Mothership unarmed, yet the Resistance all
have weapons when they go after Lt. James.
-
At the reactor doors, Willie shows up carrying
a white robe for Elizabeth. Now where the heck did that
come from?
-
During the fight on the bridge, Mike throws James
onto a electronic console -- James falls right through
it! It looks like cardboard (probably was!) as it buckles under his
weight! Next scene, the console is
back to normal.
-
Diana had set the infusion reactor to detonate
in four minutes. When the fight is over, no one bothers to
deactivate it or to cut the power!!!
-
Nick noticed
that the Visitor Wedding March is played when the Leader's shuttle arrives!
Memorable
Moments -
-
(The Resistance come aboard the Mothership on
the first day of the armistice)
Philip: I
take it you know these people.
Diana: Intimately.
Lydia: Skilled fighters, all.
Diana: Yes,
it's almost a pity that we won't meet in combat again.
Julie: Why Diana, I didn't
know that you could feel pity. Maybe things are changing.
Diana: I meant no disrespect.
After all, if it weren't for the armistice, how else would I get the legendary
Donovan in my grasp ... (shakes
Mike's hand)
-
(Philip challenges Mike to a fencing match)
Philip: Care
to try it sometime?
Mike: With uncharged weapons?
Philip: (laughs)
Of course. I should warn you though -- I'm pretty good. Trained
by a venerated Master.
Mike: Well ... I've watched all
the old Errol Flynn movies.
Philip: Well then, it should be an even
match.
-
(Willie proposes to Thelma)
Willie: This
is a human custom that you will just have to get used to.
(kisses her)
Thelma: What is it?
Willie: Kiss.
Thelma: 'Kiss'. I think
I will like it very much on Earth.
Willie: If
we make it, if we live through this, I want you to be my wife.
Thelma: We'll make it, Willie.
I know we will, even if I have to stop Diana myself!
