About me and my travel companions

Hi! I am Wendy Utji and I work in Jakarta as a copywriter for Matari Advertising. Although working in an ad agency is fun, I always look forward to the day I can take a long leave and go to faraway places. As I love to explore new things, travelling has been the passion in my life lately, since it opens so many doors to things I haven't encountered before.

This trip to Bali was possible because I was moving to a new job. So I managed to arrange for a few days break between them. I felt that I had to do this, since afterwards it will be at least a year before I could take a long break.

Sadly though, Indonesian working system normally consists of ONLY a 14 working day annual leave per year. And this can only be granted after a full year service in a company. So you see, having a long break for me is truly a luxury. As for the time being, I have to settle for short weekend trips or survive this year by reading lots and lots of travel articles. 

My dream is to become an independent traveller one day. I see this as a personal goal, because this involves walking out of my comfort zone. To be honest, up to this day I still think that travelling with a companion is more fun as you could share similar memories on the trip with someone else. But one day I will have to make that step, where I could go whenever and wherever I please, all by myself.

RINALDI FAHAR

Rinaldi is currently working as a graphic designer for Dahui, an international surfwear line, based in Bali. He is an artist in every way; a painter, a writer, and a designer all in one. And to top all that, he surfs and travels.

He is the one who told me that "The world is like a book. If you stay at home, you only read the first page" (which gets me wondering, with all the travellings I've done so far, have I gone through the table of content?).

Last Christmas we travelled to Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, and came home with so many exciting after-trip effects. Travelling becomes even more interesting when you travel with someone who shares the same idea and interest.

SANDRO UTJI

My brother Sandro has just finished his study in Sydney, Australia. He is now still looking for a job and hoping to work in the employment relations department. Besides travelling, his hobbies include music (he's a drummer) and taking care of his two goldfishes.
