Powers announce selection of new king of the Belgians -- Leopold I, from German state of Saxe-Coburg. William I reneges on armistice, subsequently plotting to attack Belgium. French called in by a reluctant Big Four to intervene. Operation successful. Treaty of London signed to establish Belgium as free nation -- but neutral. William I FINALLY recognizes Belgium as sovereign state. NB: In order to get a better insight into the Belgian revolution, it is perhaps best advisable to understand the July revolution that took place in France, but that aroused comparatively low disquiet.
