The Dark Wizards

Last session I spoke of Logan in the Wizards Hall of the temple of choosing and his possible origins to continue in that venue, today I'd like to speak about the so called "Dark Wizards" though this term is hardly accurate the term I believe stems more from their appearance and enigmatic nature more than any actual affinity of theirs or character trait.  The individuals I speak of are the Wizard Masters of Temuair There be three of these individuals in existence in Temuair and most likely you have them or at least one or two of them. The most commonly seen is Dar, who resides in Mileth.  The others be Hadriane in Soumi and Kyril in Undine, these three teach the wizards of Temuair their primary skills and secrets.  This is common knowledge, what is not so commonly known is who they were and from whence they learnt their skills to discover.  This one must dig deep into the annals of history to truly understand them and their function. One must begin with the Shadow Wars.  As some may know, the shadow wars ended in Danaan 3171 with the discovery of the Light element and the construction of the lamps by Logan. Who, at the time, was the Arcanus Adeptus of the Ancient Acadamie.  For many years peace seemed secure the Dubhaim had been effectively contained and the people thought they were secure. It was not until Danaan 3265 that trouble began to appear. Falucus, who at that time was the Dean of Srad of the Acadamie, brought forth a dire prophesy to the Acadamie that he had in a vision seen an uprising of the Dubhaim and had witnessed in this vision the dub running rampant through the streets unhindered by the light of the lamps.  Most scoffed at him and suggested he lay off the hydele, but sadly his vision contained truth. In Danaan 3266 a great battle occurred at the gates of Dubhaim Castle, the dubhaim had indeed broken free of their constraints. Only two individuals had seen with clarity enough to counter the threat.  These two were Falucus himself and his wife Alcorina, a prominent Sal Adept of the Acadamie.  Together, hand in hand they fought to their last, stemming a horde of dubhaim which had never before nor never since known equal. They slew thousands, and not a one passed the gates. Yet they were not completely triumphant.  For with their victory, they breathed their last and died at the very place of their glory. What you may ask has this to do with the Dark Wizards? Everything in essence, for the beings we now know as "The Dark Wizards" were in fact the other three Deans of the Elements of the Acadamie.  Now, the reluctance they showed to listen to their peer and heed the approaching danger was not in and of itself what brought about their change.  But what occurred later, after the great battle, a rift opened in the Acadamie membership. Each elemental college spat blame and vitriol at the other, each seeking to assign responsibility for the lack of vigilance and the death of their brethren.  Try as he might, Logan could not hold sway the tempers of his fellows and violence erupted in the halls of the Acadamie and a truly terrible thing occurred, something that had never occurred and has never since. Acadamie members did harm unto each other and blood was spilt within the hallowed lecture halls of the Acadamie This is what became known as "The Third Great Affront to Luathas" and with this, Luathas descended in fury upon the Acadamie, causing its members to be scattered about the lands. Its tall spires overthrown, he proclaimed that never again would wizardry be taught within the boundaries of Rucesion, which had become known as "The Magic City".  He exiled the leaders of the Acadamie from its borders, issuing a commandment that never again would they meet together in any form.  With the final wave of his mighty staff he swept clean the knowledge of the arcane from the members of the Acadamie, all save four. One being Logan, who resides in the Wizards hall, the other three being Hadrian, Kyril and Dar.  These he emplaced within their current locations to forever be bound there and guard the secrets of wizardry, this is their penance and the mercy of Luathas:  That though the great Acadamie was lost never again would any be afflicted with the difficult task of attempting to master wizardry uninstructed. Lest destruction once again reign with folly.
