| Each
month the Commander of the Army and the Commander in Chief recognize officers that have
established themselves on the field of glory with the reward of medals and commendations.
Such recognition hastens an officer's progress toward promotion and serves as notice to
all that the officer epitomizes the ideal of a soldier of France. Qualification and points
awarded for each medal or commendation is determined as follows: |
| Maxim XV |
| The first consideration with a general who offers
battle should be the glory and honour of his arms; the safety and preservation of his men
is only the second; but it is in the enterprise and courage resulting from the former that
the latter will most assuredly be found. In a retreat, besides the honour of the army, the
loss is often equal to two battles. For this reason we should never despair while brave
men are to be found with their colours. It is by this means we obtain victory, and deserve
to obtain it. |
| Medaille Militaire |
| This medal is
awarded to an officer of the Grand Army upon their first victory over an Allied opponent.
There are no points associated with this medal of recognition. It is important that each
French officer report their first Allied victory to the Commander of the Army in order to
qualify for this medal. |
| Laurels |
| "Frenchmen, you have proved worthy of
yourselves and of myself. You will return to France covered with all your laurels and
after having secured a glorious peace which carries with it the guarantee of its
permanence. It is time to finish and to let our nation live and rest sheltered from the
influence of malign England. My favour is proof of my gratitude and the wide extent of my
love for you." - Napoleon, 1807 |
| Order of the Iron Crown |
| This commendation
is awarded by the Commander of the Army and/or Commander in Chief to officers that have
distinguished themselves through exemplary service to the Grand Army or in recognition for
special achievement. This commendation is worth 5 points. |
| The Presentation of the Eagle |
| Soldiers, there are your colours. These eagles will
serve you as points for rallying. They will be everywhere your Emperor judges necessary
for the defence of his throne and his people. You will swear to give your life to defend
him and to constantly to uphold them by your courage on your way to victory. |
| Valour Cross |
| Presented to
officers that exhibit conspicuous galantry on the field of battle. This may be achieved
through outstanding performance in a multi-player game, on recommendation by a fellow
officer or achieving ten victories against Allied opponents. This medal is worth 10
points. |
| The Legionnaires Oath |
| Commanders, officers, legionnaires, citizens and
soldiers, swear on your honour to devote yourselves to the service of the Empire, to the
preservation of its territory and integrity, to the defense of the Emperor, the laws of
the Republic and the estates which they embody, to fight by every means which justice,
reason and law authorize against every enterprise which threatens to re-establish feudal
rule. Finally, to swear to contribute by every means in your power to the maintenance of
liberty and equality, the first basis of our institutions. |
| Legion of Honor |

"bravest soldier", this medal is awarded to those officers that have achieved
special notoriety within their respective Corps or Army. It is awarded on recommendation
