"Uncertain sea legs carried nine new crew members about the decks of the Radar Picket Ship USS WATCHMAN today.  They were born to SCURVY, Henrietta D., original member of the crew who is carried on the muster list as DR, Dog Recruit, serial no. 000 DOG.  Recruit Scurvy eloped with the beagle mascot of a sistership, the USS PICKET, and managed to keep it a secret until a month ago.  Birth of the nine puppies, five males and four females, brought the elopement to light."
