B-42 Review
I have owned a B-42 for over 5 years now and I can only give praise about this air gun. It is a spring piston air gun and is made of solid blued steel and comes with a hard wood stock, on the stock it has 2 swing swivels for placing a shoulder belt (a good advantage when hunting out in the field). Out of my collection of 6 air guns, it is my favorite air gun, it is fun to shoot and has a push button elevation back sight that is handy for long distance shots. And the best part about this air gun is it's price, less than $60.00, a quailty pellet air gun for the price of a cheap bb gun. I have taken this air gun apart and I can tell you it is very well made. It comes with a solid milled steel trigger that is held by 2 strong springs instead of one and has a very smooth trigger action, it even has a trigger safety. Even the cocking arm has something special about it that I have never seen in other air guns, it has 2 wheels for easier and smoother cocking. It comes with a tapered barrel for accuracy and the sights are made of solid steel, not plastic like most air guns. Once sighted in, this air gun is very accurate.
Notice the wheels on the cocking arm, they role over the cocking guide, giving a easier, smoother cocking.
The B-42 is a powerful adult spring piston air gun with speeds of 850 fps in caliber .177, and 750 fps in caliber .22. It is a low cost air gun that is a great buy for your money, for less than $40.00 you can have a quality air gun that can last you a life time. At 20 feet a .177 cal. pellet shot out of this air gun will pass through both sides of a hard tin can (a great can opener) and even pass through a 1/4 inch thick piece of plywood.
It comes with a elevation back sight for close/distance shooting and a cross bolt front sight, the windage adjustment is done in the front sight using a tapping method. I used a pair of pliers and tapped the slide bolt front sides until I sighted in the air gun. I also placed a piece of cardboard on the end of the bolt and tapped on that to avoid ruining the bluing on the bolt. The front sight is a screw type sight, that is used for the elevation of the XS B-4-2, the front sight can be lowered or raised using a slot screw driver thru the hole on top of the front AK style sight.
