A Simply Rifle Rest.
If you are handy at woodworking, you can make a simple Rifle Rest that comes in handy when you are working on your air gun. This Rifle Rest is made out of scrape wood I had laying around, I used 1, 1/2" drywall screws and a old 3" C-Clamp to make the rifle press. I used a old 3" C-Clamp I had laying around, but you may use a bigger C-Clamp, 4"s would be better. Since the wood was scrape wood, I decided to stain and seal the wood to cover blemishes. It is a good idea to seal the wood for clean ups later on.
Here is a close up of the rifle's butt press I made at the back of the rest using a 3" C-Clamp. I took two pieces of 1"x3" soft white pine, soft pine is a must for the press to avoid damaging the rifle's paint job and wood, so do not paint it or seal it, leave it soft. I took the two pieces of pine and outlined with a pencil both ends of the C-Clamp. I then took wood drill bits the same width as the outline and drill out grooves to fit in the ends of the C-Clamp about a half of a inch deep (See photo below.). Notice the press spacer, this piece of wood makes the press apply pressure to the top part of the press, to hold the rifle's back stock more secure, the piece of wood is placed in-between the 2 pieces of pine at the bottom.
I cut a piece of 1"x3" pine 5 inches long to use as a base for the C-Clamp and screwed it in with 2 screws to the rest's base. I then drilled two holes in the middle of the C-Clamp and screwed the C-Clamp to the base with 2 screws.
I used a electrical jig saw to cut out the "V" shaped slots in the 2"x4"s. The rest is easy, just check out the photo below for the measurements and screw in the 2"x4"s with 3 screws from the bottom the rest's base (plywood).
