A small tune for top fps in a break barrel air gun.

Take in mind that just about all break barrel air gun's cylinders are regular steel and tend to rust inside due to moisture on the metal during storage.

Me, I would take it apart and exam the cylinder to check for rust, if it is brown in color instead of being a shinny silver color, it has rust, which slows down the piston's action. If it has rust, I would use some W D40, let that sit on the surface in the cylinder for about 15 minutes to loosen the rust, use a rough cloth on a stick with more W D40 to work the rust out. Then I would clean out the rust/WD 40 with a degreaser, then polish it with a nice dry clean cloth wrapped around a stick with a metal polish compound until the cylinder is real shinny.

A good idea would be to polish both ends of the main spring also, polish the ends with 1000 grit wet sandpaper and lube both ends with moly paste. Also use the wet sandpaper to polish the outside of the main spring and the main spring's guide (post). All this polishing will reduce friction and increase speed in the piston's action.

Then I would give the cylinder a coat of moly paste mixed with Slick 50 (50/50). I would also use pure moly paste on the main spring's outside, it's ends and it's guide.

This kind of tune should give this air gun top fps.
