Who Wants To Live Forever

Alone there stands a man with such deep sorrow and bitterness in his heart. It is evident that this man has lived for a very long time although by looking at him, you would never have guessed it. He clings his long black trench coat around his body as he shivers slightly against the cold. There is a swirl of mist as it is quite foggy in Paris this time of year. He walks along a path heading for a cemetery. He sighs softly as he hates to visit the cemetery. It isn’t that he doesn’t want to because he doesn’t care. But it is because he cared maybe too much. His heart hurts every time he has to bury someone. Every time another person who he has loved deeply dies…there is a strong wrenching of his heart. He walks his way to the church and looks on as a very old man is at the gravestone to which he wishes to visit. He waits and lets the old man have his moments with the grave. The man puts on two red rose flowers on the ground in front of the grave. He then walks away in the opposite direction where there is a 30 year old woman or so waiting for him with great autumn red hair. The immortal man watches them go off softly before he goes to the gravestone and he looks down at it and softly speaks.

There's no time for us.
There's no place for us.
What is this thing that builds our dreams, yet slips away from us?

He says softly to the gravestone before him as he wraps his coat around him more and looks up and sighs bitterly as he questions himself.

Who wants to live forever?
Who wants to live forever?

He then groans to himself as he looks back at the grave.

There's no chance for us.
It's all decided for us.
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us.

Adam thinks fondly on that one sweet moment that they shared together many years ago when she was very young and beautiful, and he smiles softly to himself, but then it is replaced by the sadness of the moment as he questions himself again.

Who wants to live forever?
Who wants to live forever?

He softly groans again to himself.

Who dares to love forever, when love must die?

He starts to tear up as he says almost angrily at the stone, as if he wished her to listen to him. He is foolish in his wishing but when they always talked before, she would listen and she would fight back with all her strength to overcome what she was feeling at the time.

But touch my tears with your lips;
touch my world with your fingertips…

His next words are very soft.

And we can have forever,
and we can love forever.
Forever is our today.

Sighs to himself as he starts to cry now. He doesn’t get to overly emotional, but this time he must as his heart breaks inside him.

Who wants to live forever?
Who wants to live forever?
Forever is our today.

He shakes his head and bends his body down to touch his fingers over the name on the stone and reads the quote that was put on there.

“Who waits forever anyway?”
