LIGHT UP YOUR LIFE WITH KNOWLEDGE

KNOW WHEN TO REPAIR  - KNOW WHEN TO REPLACE!

More than thirty years ago the main function of a windshield was to provide protection from the elements and optical clarity. Today, however, the windshield has been redesigned, making it an integral part of your vehicle's structure. It acts as a restraint, protecting occupants from being ejected during an accident. It is designed to help support the roof in case of roll over, which protects the occupant  from being crushed. Finally, it acts as a dais, providing a platform which assists in air bag deployment.

Road debris, including rocks can strike a windshield creating damage in the glass. The damage holds a twofold disaster to the vehicle's occupants. First and foremost, the structure of the vehicle has now been compromised. This nick, chip or crack has created a buckle point within the glass. In the case of an accident, rollover and/or airbag deployment, the safety platform of the windshield has been deteriorated, thus the roof may now collapse, the occupant may now be ejected and the airbag deployment may falter. Unless the cracking process is stopped, it may continue to spread, continuously decreasing the safety of the vehicle, by reducing the strength of the glass as much as 90%.

Windshield repair is meant to restore the integrity to the glass stopping  the cracking and breaking process and restoring the safety of the vehicle. The repair will improve the appearance of the broken area, but in most cases will leave a tell-tale scarring.

NEVER REPAIR UNDER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

  1. If vision is impaired, the windshield should not be repaired.
  2. If the damage is in the driver's vision, the windshield should not be repaired.
  3. If the windshield has stress cracks with no visible cause of damage.
  4. If the damage can be felt on the inside of the windshield.
  5. If the damage has been contaminated by chemicals such as water repellant.
  6. If the damage is visually contaminated by dirt.

IN THESE INSTANCES ALWAYS REPLACE THE DAMAGED WINDSHIELD.
