On the route to finding the truth, heaven arranges a companion for Wisely, she has the opposite character to him, always looking for the scientific explanation, the truth and the evidence, she is the logical Pak Su.

Wisely meets Su for the first time in "Paper Monkey". When he first meets her, she is working as a doctor in the hospital and Wisely is smitten by her as she leaves a deep impression on him. The second time he sees her, he is investigating the reason why his assistant Siu Kwok has been heavily injured whilst investigating a case and goes into a nightclub where she has changed into a club singer, with a lingering song sends Wisely into a frenzy, but he is disappointed when he finds that she may be the mistress of the powerful leader of the Ching Gang in Shanghai - Senior Pak. The third encounter with Su, she has changed once more into a skilled assassin, but although she shoots at him, the bullet misses. Later, Wisely finds out that she has intentionally freed him, so he decides that she must also have feelings towards him. Also he realises that she is not Pak's mistress, but his daughter so he sets his heart on her pursuit, feeling that she is a perfect match for his genius.

Unfortunately, fate plays games and Kwok's injuries are found to have been caused by an internal betrayal in Pak's Ching Gang about the whereabouts of a treasure trove. After the investigation by Wisely, they find that the person responsible for the trouble is no other than Su's elder brother Pak Kei Wai. Eventually, to stop Wai from getting the treasure, Wisely accidentally causes him to fall down a deep cliff and his body cannot be found. This news causes much shock in the gang and although Pak knows deep down that Wisely cannot be held responsible for the death of his son, but the sorrow he feels for Wai's death cannot be hidden and this hinders the development of Wisely and Su's feelings as an formless raging river springs up between them and Su decides to leave Shanghai.

Three years later, Wisely continues his adventurous spirit to find the truth behind various strange occurences, but every day he brings out the bullet necklace to think about Su. In the case of "Changing Corpse", Wisely assists tycoon Cheng Po Wan to investigate his father's corpse that will not decompose and once again meets with Su, who has become a forensic doctor. When the corpse is then suddenly changed into nothing but bones, he blames Su for obstructing his work and the two start their arguments before solving their prior problems. In the case of "Wood Coal" Wisely feels Pak's distant attitude towards him and finds not only a river, but also an invisible wall springing up between him and Su.

Wisely and Su work together with their common friend in "Dream Seekers" as he tries to settle the differences between him and another friend, but he cannot evade the debts that need to be repaid from their past lives. Afterwards, Wisely and Su can only believe that it is down to destiny as to whether they can continue their unfinished love. In another twist of fate, in "Poison Puzzle" they find that Wai has not died but has lost his memory after falling down the cliff and has been cared for in the last three years by a lady from the Miao tribe called Ba Ju. Pak is overjoyed to see his son and opens up to Wisely and everyone thinks that they will definitely get back together again, but the opposite is true as they each refuse to put aside their silly pride and continue their arguments. The heavens place more tests on them as they meet again in the cases of "Immortal" and "Mixing with Ghosts", creating some laughs from the helpless people beside them.

In the final case "Tomb Robber" Wisely realises that he really does deeply love Su. One day someone asks Wisely to go and rob a tomb. To start with, he refuses, but later he finds out tht Wai has accepted this mission and disappeared and Su finds herself in danger after going to look for her brother. Upon further investigation, they find that this is all strongly linked with the Chinese Spies, a foreign space agency and alien beings. In the end, Wisely helps the aliens escape from the ancient tomb, but Su is in grave danger and at the life and death situation, Wisely can no longer hold back his feelings for her and tells of his regrets of not telling her of his love at the beginning. At this time, the emotions of humans touch the aliens, who repay Wisely by using their superior intelligence to send Wisely back in time and let him show his love to Su all over again...
