Animorphs #9: The Secret Plot: In the woods behind Cassie's house, home to Ax and Tobias. It appears to be an innocent logging industry, but Dapsen Industries turns out to be something a little more threatening. In additon, Cassie starts to question her validity as an Animorph. She wonders about the reality of the nature that she loves and values so much; is it really any better than any evil from space? She also has to deal with the dominating instincts of certain morphs that lead to killing. The question is, can she come to terms with herself in addition to sabatoging Dapsen in time? Comments: Many people don't like this book because it is kind of morose and brooding. If you're in a bad mood it's downright depressing. It's the kind of book that causes one to wonder what dark, morbid book K.A. was reading at the time she wrote this. But actually, I liked it. It was a look at the darker side of the dangerous/thrilling Animorphs job. Yep, in a nutshell Cassie "looses it." But not slits-her-wrists, looses it, more like the-thing-I'm-fighting-for-is-worse-than-the-thing-I'm-up-against- and-I-don't-know-what-to-live-for-anymore-but-I'll-be-okay looses it (Whew, that was my longest hyphenated phrase yet!) There was also a little odd bit of humor thrown in. Anyway, while this book was a little weird, I, being the quasi-morbid person that I am, enjoyed it. |
