"Between Friends"
Basic Plot:
Tobias finally
shows up and nothing will ever be the same....Meanwhile, Rachel's best friend Melissa (the
daughter of human-Controller Principal Chapman) is acting strange and distant. When Rachel
and Jake are captured in cat and dog morph, the Animorphs are in danger of becoming part
of the animal kingdom...forever.
Based
on:
Animorphs #2: The Visitor
Book-TV Comparison:
Tobias coming through the window was pretty characteristic. This is supposed to be one of these scary/dramatic moments. He explains what happened to him and Rachel is very upset and is determined to change him back. This is also characteristic, but as a fan pointed out, she didn't seem to even think of Tobias as they were escaping the Yeerk pool, why is she upset all of a sudden? Maybe a sudden realization of her love for him?
Chapman is really not doing a good job at acting human. It's true that he had gotten very distant as of late, but that doesn't mean that he suddenly hates the cat with a vengeance and talks in this almost robotic way.
All the cool stuff about with the Visser Three hologram and the cat was omitted. Instead Visser Three wanted it taken because he saw the morph and the real cat together, and knew one of them was fake. And is it just me, or did the Rachel-cat look different from the real one?
We also didn't see anything about how sad Melissa was about her parents. Or, I'm guessing her mother died, so, parent.
The neat Rachel vs. Visser Three battle of wills was also left out.
I'm sorry, but Jake would have never jumped on Visser Three in *any* form (unless V3 was a human and Jake was a tiger) and especially not as a dog. But he does here, so he gets tied up.
More on the lack of character development topic, they failed to show how determined Chapman was to keep his daughter safe.
More on the Visser Three topic, he didn't morph that cool tree-creature. But then, if they had we would have only seen shadows of it, so it's probably all for the better.
