The Animal House Crashpad Story

This is the story of a Crashpad and its members ... it is called the Animal House ...

First, we must define the term "Crashpad" for those of you who are not "in the business".  A Crashpad is a place where those of us who are in the transportation industry spend our time between trips.  This allows us to be in position to begin our next work day rested and ready to work.  We rest, play, study and prepare for our next adventure, wherever it will be.

Crashpads vary from the simple hotel room, which is very expensive in our neck of the woods, to elaborate houses.  Members vary from a single person in a single room to people living almost "on top of each other".  It seems most Crashpads are attended because of economic necessity.  That is not the case in our "pad". Flight Attendants especially, are not paid enough to spend lots of money on housing while away from home so they generally share with others who are also in the business.

The Animal House is a group of Pilots which work in Newark, New Jersey.  Everyone "commutes" to work so this is our Home away from Home.  We have been together for many years and believe the standards set in the movie Animal House should be our mantra for both work and play.

This is an attempt to make a web site about a Crashpad which not only reflects our members, but also our interests and photo journals from some of our parties and events.  We recently had several members, and one visitor, join together (on motorcycles) to view the leaves changing color in the Northeastern US.  Because we had so much fun, this will now be an annual event.  Our next scheduled event is another "ride" on Maui, followed closely by a visit to the Scotland Island of Isla where we will pay homage to our refreshment of choice.

E-mail us with questions and/or comments

We do have e-mail, however, we do not always check it.  If you leave us a message, we WILL get back with you ... it may not be the same day, or even the same week, but we WILL get back with you.  One of our roommates is the musician who has written and performs the music you are listening to.  CD's of all his "Jimmy Buffet" style music are available for sale at a reasonable price. You can also hear a sampling of his music at The Three Friends Pub located on McWhorter Street in the Ironbound section of Newark.  Just go in, ask for "John", and tell them "Jimmy" sent you and you want to hear his music.  Be sure to enjoy a "Le Peep" while you are there.  We can be reached HERE should you wish to contact us.  We will be updating this site with additional pages and photo albums in the future.  Return often!  We look forward to hearing from you.
