Galaxy Express 999 is a story about a boy named Tetsuro who wants a machine body. Tetsuro wants to go to this planet aboard the magical train 999 and get this body on the planet known as Andromeda. Well he doesn't have enough money for a ticket, because these types of things are rather expensive. So he steals one. A guard spies him and tells the other guards to go after him. Tetsuro runs as fast as he can to get away- and thinks he does. A guard suddenly pops up behind him and Tetsuro now thinks he's a goner. But he is wrong again, for a woman (Maetel) pulls him out of the way just as the man shoots at him. So once he's inside she agrees to take him on the train with her, because she is going. Maetel is very anxious along the way. Why you may ask? Watch and find out. Also, they make numerous stops along the trip to other planets, which are starting to alter Tetsuro's opinion of getting a machine body...

Overall goodness
5/5 I liked it. I like Leiji's drawings and I liked the unique character appearances in the show. They weren't really built on, though. Some characters were rather... empty.
Totals: 47/50, very good, yet hard to understand if you haven't seen Arcadia of my Youth or Queen Emeraldas.
Tetsuro Hoshino is a young boy who wants to avenge his mother's current state. Uh, nice wording, Megumi-sama. So he steals a ticket to the Galaxy Express 999. The police chase him and his retarded friends. (heh heh heh *snort*) Maetel saves him and reads his dreams. There, his mother's current state is revealed. He's off! Taking off! Taking off! On the Galaxy Express three-nine, who'll take him on a journey, a never ending journey, a journey to the STARS! Ok, I'm stupid. So he takes off and meets a bunch of characters. Then they reach the planet of the apes. Just kidding. The planet before the planet of machine bodies. He meets Count Mecha, and his mother's OTHER current state. And some chick who sings a song on a guitar. Then he reaches the planet. THE PLANET!! So then, I won't tell no more.
All the characters were cool and interesting. I liked most of them, some I found annoying. There was a small amunt of nudity, and it was most excellent.
