These are some letters that our mail-checker (we call him "mailboy") sent for us to print. They are from visitors to the page, and all their words are exactly like we recieved them, except the expletives that we felt were offensive and other things we felt are not appropriate have been deleted. Responses from us are in italics.

"The Titanic movie is terrible. Why did they add that fake love story? C'mon, they should have used true stories. The fake love story wasn't even original. A poor boy falls in love with a rich girl. Hasn't Disney already released about 50 movies like that already?!"

We agree that the "fake" love story should not have been in the script. However, that is not the main reason why we did not enjoy the film. It is the way it was done. Not of very high quality.

Great page! I love it. I'll certainly add a link from my page. You
are very right about all the flaws in the movie, such as there being no
love. You're right - it's LUST! Plain and simple. I also loved the
bit about Billy Zane's character. It's like, "Yeah, I'd rather die an
ugly [expletive] on the streets with this boy who's about 45 years my junior
than actually be with a handsome guy who also happens to be richer than
crud." Rose needs help! Heck, all Titanic fans need help! :)

Titanism - the Anti-Titanic Site

That was rather harsh. We don't feel Titanic fans need help. If they like the movie, so be it. If they wish to see it again, we hope they have a good time. We are just saying that this film is nowhere near the high quality that all the hype presents. There are MANY better movies out there. Movies that didn't make nearly as much money, and movies that are sometimes ignored. But movies that are better, nonetheless.

You guys stink and the movie is the bestest of all time! It was so romantic and you guys are ugly and so is your dog

Hey! Don't you be insulting our dog! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I liked ur site but...I liked the movie i got nothing againist the movie
but i still went to your site. well for the selfishness section...U
know...you have to watch the movie more carefully. Jack tried to go on
with rose but the driftwood flipped over and jack wasnt able to fit on
the driftwood. So thats the reason why! Nice site anyways
LSoboleski@snet.net

We felt the driftwood was huge and could easily fit more than one person. Rose was streched out on that thing with room to spare. But it's all a matter of opinion.

What the [expletive] are you [expletive] talking about dude? The movie was the greatest of all time and beats Men In BLack! You can say your opinion, but da movie rocks!

Okay.

Hi
I just have a few things to say.
1. Are you a depressed or sad person? You sure sound like one when you
describe the events in this movie.

We do not consider ourselves sad for expressing our opinion of a this movie. Please do not judge our emotional status from our web page. I am sure you have seen a movie that you thought was awful but others enjoyed. Does that make you "depressed or sad"? Of course not.

2. To quote you "Its just a movie!". Why do you hate it so much that you
had to put a web page out about it? That kind of negative thinking isn't
good for anyone.

A web page is not very difficult to create. Many servers offer free web space for people to use. This web site of ours is very small compared to others

3. Movies aren't supposed to be realistic, hello!!! That is why Rose and
Jack were alone for the flying scene, and Rose was on the raft alone
while Jack died. It was supposed to tug at your heart strings, not be
totally real! Mind you, I was really mad at Rose for not sharing her
raft with Jack, and at Jack for being so noble. He should haave gotten
on the raft, but then again, they didn't know they were going to die of
the freezing water. Most people thought they would get rescued, not that
they would die from hypothermia.

You say that movies are not supposed to be realistic. We are inclined to disagree. A movie can be fantasy in terms of content, but must be realistic in that it has to make sense as the story progresses, in order to ensure that it is of high quality. The script has to "flow smoothly" so the viewer can enjoy it without thinking "Wait a minute..this isn't right.". In our opinion, the 1997 film Titanic did not succeed in this area.

4. Anyone who prefers Cal to Jack as a man obviously agrees with the
image Cal projected in the film. A snotty, rude, stiff, woman
terrorizing, selfish, spoiled brat and ecotistical man. Maybe that is
the way you think a man should be? Jack, was a real, fun loving, free
spirited, down to earth, and not to mention totally gorgeous man who
saved Rose from high society hell, with rude and selfish people.

Aren't you being unfair to Rose's unlucky fiancee? Here he was getting ready to get married when all of a sudden his girlfriend is running of with this streetboy. Wouldn't you be angry? Yes, he was rude and obnoxious, but there is no doubt that he cared deeply for Rose. Jack was more carefree, but Cal had it all together, and Rose running off with the streetboy just didn't make sense, in our opinion.

5. How can you say that the movie was so horrible with all the $ it
made? You are the minority here!

Again, just because a movie makes a lot of money doesn't make it good. And just because a lot of people watched it doesn't mean every one of those people enjoyed it. Many originally were not going to view it, but with the huge hype going around, decided to go check it out. Of course, there are all of those who are watching it over and over and over and over, also helping the box-office gross.

6.You shouldn't put down people for going to see the movie more than
once. Its people's right to choose what they want to do with their $!

We agree. If you wish to watch any movie multiple times, go ahead, and we hope that you have a good time. Our writer was simply stating an opinion of his.

7.If you think Titanic was a horrible movie, I would like to know what
you think is a great movie? That might explain where you are coming
from.

Many great movies have been created throughout history, but sadly those days may be gone. There hasn't been a truely remarkable film in quite some time. Since you like to discuss box-office gross, consider Gone With the Wind, which has made today's equivalent of over 1 billion dollars. And do you remember how many special effects it had? It didn't have any.

8.You missed the point of Titanic. It was supposed to make you realize
how smalll we are in the world, how precious life is, and about helping
you fellow man, no matter what and who they are, but you were too busy
being negative to see that. Talk about narrow minded!

Oh, we are sorry we didn't feel what the movie intended us to feel. But wait a minute, isn't that the movie's job, not ours?

9. The love story was supposed to be a fantasy. We all know that love
like that doesn't exist, and that the way they acted isn't reality, but
it was supposed to be a fantasy! Why would you even want to compare it
with real life love, to get so depressed that you cry all day long?
Please!

Love like that doesn't really exist in the real world. But as an earlier letter stated, not only did it seem like an unrealistic love, it didn't seem like love at all. It seemed of lust.

10. Despite my love for the film, I do actually hate James Cameron. He
is a womanizing and rude man, and I hope he gets what is coming too him
soon.
Well, that's it. I just felt the need to write all this out. Feel free
to email me back with your opinions about what I wrote.

Thank you for sending us a mature letter, unlike the one printed right before this one. We enjoy hearing peoples' opinions, even if they are not that of ours. But please keep it to a level of maturity. Thank you.
