Fisherman’s Wharf, Aquatic Park and the Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory are all located along the north eastern shore of San Francisco. Since I have so few pictures of all three of these places I have grouped them together because they are so close.
Fisherman’s Wharf is the area in-between Pier’s 45 and 51. It is a place where fisherman had traditionally come to sell their catches to locals looking for fresh fish. It is not as showy as the Seattle's fish market, but it still attracts its fair share of tourists, mostly looking for fresh fish to eat. Because of the number of tourists, many cheep souvenir shops have sprouted up, along with a really neat Wax Museum. Fisherman’s Wharf also has its share of street performers including the Green Man. Aquatic park received its name because it is next to the Maritime museum and it is where boat shows take place. Though that doesn’t sound very romantic, it is actually a very scenic and romantic “park” Next to the bleachers for the boat shows, is a quit and peaceful lawn. From the lawn, you have a nice view of both the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. Tired San Franciscan seek out this place as a tranquil place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the bay. Aside from the Maritime museum, Aquatic park also has some historic river boats that once took people up the Sacramento river. Lastly is the Ghirardelli chocolate factory. This is a very historical building though not many people know that. Originally a warehouse, it was converted into a chocolate producing factory at the turn of the century. Because Ghiradelli liked Gothic style of architecture, it was rebuilt over time into the Gothic style, complete with clock tower. Over time shops have been added and the complex has become a modern day castle, full of places to buy food and souvenirs. Its also a nice place to walk around to just view the architecture of the building. Any comments, please send to .
