Ecology

Another movement that has affected many Socialists is the environmental movement. Capitalism with its necessity for expansion has run into the problem of limited resources. Furthermore, the need for corporations to cut expenses has led to the senseless ruin of much of the Earth’s ecology.

The environmental movement has also called into question the older superficial socialist view that the only thing wrong with industrialism is who controls it. The capitalist desire for unlimited growth that no longer makes sense in a world of limited space and resources. Socialists seek to create a sustainable society through renewable resources and intelligent, long term planning.
