This section of the site aims at providing the visitors with information about world events. We truly believe that corporate media (media controlled by bussinesses, in this case corporation) and state media hides, modifies or exagerate reports in order to make us blind and ignorant so to to be just another sheep with a number on its back.

For this reason, we wanted to set up this online weekly newspaper in which we would give our own opinion about world events and also offer links from other news neglected by traditional medias. We are not here telling you that WE are right but instead offering another view so the you can judge by yourself. Apart from that we would have special reports and articles and other essays found in other sites or written by us. You can also write articles which we can publish here by sending us an email. Last but not least check our links below for excellent independant medias online.

1-300,000 workers strike in Colombia
(November 1st, 2001)

Colombia, Nov. 1st---Last thursday's (Nov. 1st) protest in Bogota, according to DJ, did not have the strength expected. 600'000 workers were expected to strike but only 300'000 actually joined the 24 hours "huelga".

The reasons of the strike were the low percentage of employement (17,8% of the active population in Colombia was jobless at the end of September 2001) and the september's reforms proposed by the government were not accepted by the syndicates.

Carlos Rodriguez, general secretary of the CUT, Colombia's Confederation of syndicates, said that "we are on strike because we are very worried about the unemployement crisis in Colombia."

On the Bogota's mayor side, he claimed that the strikes had little impact. This is, according to him, because the population remained "civilized" and that the transportation kept going. Analysts agreed on this last claim saying that the decision of not striking by the bus and taxi drivers, taken last week, really weakened the worker's strength. Without them, specialists claimed, the strike can not have a real impact on the general economy.
