Thierry began his career under
Wenger at Monaco, making his
league debut against Nice in
August 1994. He became captain
of the French Under-18 side in
1996 and made his full
international debut in October
1997 in a 2-1 friendly win v South
Africa. Thierry was voted Young
Footballer of the Year in 1996 and
was a French league title winner
with Monaco in 1997. He has
scored 3 goals in 11 appearances
for France (up to August 1999) and
was their top scorer in their
victorious 1998 World Cup
campaign.
