Emerging from the Cocoon (In-Progress and Finished Version)
24"x12" - $250.00 (Unframed) + $25.00 (Shipping)
After I drew the figure, I waited for the piece to "speak to me". After a few weeks of non-communication, I put it aside and worked on some other drawings and paintingss. When I started putting colors on a new painting, I decided to use the same ones for this work - hoping that the picture would "speak to me" this time...and it did. It told me that figure was either waking up or being born...uncoiling herself from a smaller position. Soon afterward, I decided on the "butterfly" theme...the background, then, worked itself out. :-)

Artemis: Goddess of the Hunt (In-Progress and Finished Version)
18"x24" - $300.00 (Unframed) + $30.00 (Shipping)
For this painting, I waited for the drawn and painted figure to "speak to me"...and she told me that she had just dropped something. After I decided on the theme of the Greek goddess, Artemis (Goddess of the Hunt), I placed symbols around the figure to make the picture "complete": the "dropped" bow (as if the arrow had already been shot), the hunting dogs that always accompany her, the moonlit nighttime background to symbolize the time of her hunts, and the deer (silhouetted against the moon) that is always the target of her pursuits. :-)

The Earnest Contemplation of Going Solo
12"x9" - $175.00 (Unframed) + $17.50 (Shipping)
I started this painting on a recent trip down south. A little more than halfway through it, I suddenly stopped painting it: I'd lost sight of my reason for why I was painting it. A few weeks later, it hit me, again: I was trying to capture the essence of feeling alone even when you are surrounded by other people. You can be "in" a crowd without being "a part of" the crowd...you know what I mean? :-)

By the Pool (Belle and Brandon)
18"x24" - Not for Sale
This 2008 work is my annual Christmas painting-present to my wife - a tradition that I started in 1995. The piece is a depiction of a photograph of my wife and our 1+ year-old son, Brandon, during his first exposure to a swimming pool. In creating this work, I was able to follow a trend from last years Christmas painting (Belles Boys) in which I, also, used our child as a subject. :-)

Dancing to the Beat of your Own Music
24"x18" - Sold
This commissioned painting was one of my favorite "jobs", in a long time! My client was a beautiful, curvy woman, and she hired me to paint someone who looked like her - what a fantastic job! This painting shows a truly beautiful woman who, when she gives herself permission to BE herself, is even MORE beautiful than her sexy curves, alone!

Strut
20"x30" - $300.00 (Unframed) + $30.00 (Shipping)
This painting (from the "Paintings in Progress" page...) is my impression of the sweet anguish that a heterosexual man experiences when an unattainably sexy woman walks past him! The scantily-clad woman is wearing a diaphonous outfit - which is why you can see the man's arm, and part of the street, through it. The grafitti on the walls, across the street, shows an orange, broken heart, and the word "Sexy". The sign, in between the grafitti, shows an hour-glass - a reference to the woman. I even used the symbols for male and female for the dotted, dividing lines, of the street. As you can, also, see, the woman is so "hot" that she is, LITERALLY, burning up the sidewalk as she walks down it!

Super Duo
11"x14" - Not for Sale
This 11"x14" acrylic-paint-on-paper work is the result of a commission - the second of two (to go along with "Bathing Beauty" - see below), on which I worked, for one particular client. If you have an idea, I can paint it for you! :-)

Bathing Beauty
11"x14" - Not for Sale
This 11"x14" acrylic-paint-on-paper work is the result of a commission - one of two, on which I am working, for one particular client. If you have an idea, I can bring it to life! :-)

Seventh Heaven
24"x18" - $225.00 (Unframed) + $22.50 (Shipping)
This painting was completed as part of a Fourth of July live-painting demonstration, at Las Vegas's "Club Aruba" (1215 Las Vegas Blvd South - 89104). I used the joined-silhoettes of seven dancers - but, I endeavored to create some intrigue, within the figurative piece, by painting a landscape inside of the silhoettes...a genre inside of a genre, if you will.

Rendezvous in Paradise?
48"x36" - $750.00 (Unframed) + $75.00 (Shipping)

For this painting, I used one of my new, favorite muses - a beautiful plus-sized model who is also one of my MySpace friends. The question mark, in the title, was meant to imply some sort of uncomfortableness, between the two figures...which I tried to convey with the man's stance. So, how did I do?:-)

Belle's Boys
18"x24" - Not for Sale

This 2007 work is my annual Christmas painting-present to my wife - a tradition that I started in 1995. This work is my first painting experimentation with the "peek-a-boo" style, that I have been working with, in my drawings, lately. The painting is a depiction of a photograph of me and my newborn son, Brandon, at Red Rock Canyon, in Las Vegas, Nevada. This piece of art allowed me to create a self-portrait - something that my wife has been requesting for quite some time - and my first artwork with my son as a subject. :-)

The Empress Is Wearing No Clothes
24"x18" - $300.00 (Unframed) + $30.00 (Shipping)

This painting (from the "Paintings in Progress" page...) is my broad "take" on the children's story, "The Emperor's New Clothes"...you know, the one where a king is walking around with an "invisible" outfit, and everybody, except one person, is afraid to tell the king that he is actually naked (instead, they simply compliment his attire....). Well, in my painting, the "empress" part is implied by the Queen of Spades card, in the background. While the "queen" is, in fact, not wearing any clothes (the nude figure may have given you a hint...), there is more to her than simply her nakedness. Her nudity represents her vulnerability...especially since the figure is a "plus-sized" model - a person who (erroneously) is not always seen as beautiful, in this country.

Tupac
20"x30" - $275.00 (Unframed) + $27.50 (Shipping)

This is a painting of one of my favorite rappers, the late Tupac Shakur: a man whose turbulent lifestyle led to his shooting death, at the young age of 25. While some would say that he “deserved” his fate, the world lost a true hip-hop virtuoso when he passed.

Always be my Baby
30"x40" - Not For Sale

This 2006 work is my annual Christmas painting-present to my wife - a tradition that I started in 1995. The romantic dancing couple is accompanied by representations of our past, on the left (New York City - The Statue of Liberty; Boston - The Boston Red Sox baseball player; Las Vegas - a roulette wheel) and representations of our future, on the right (Italy - The fingers from Michelangelo's "The Birth of Adam"; Egypt - A man riding a camel in front of the pyramids; France - The Eiffel Tower). The words are lyrics from "our song". :-)

Jungle Cats
24"x18" - $250.00 (Unframed) + $25.00 (Shipping)

When I saw the spectacular physique, on this female boybuilder, I knew that I had to paint her! When I saw the pose of this spectacular bodybuilder, the theme, for the painting, created itself for me!

Succubus: Love me for my Mind
18"x24" - $250.00 (Unframed) + $25.00 (Shipping)

In my occupation, as a teacher - a previously female-oriented occupation - I, unfortunately, come across many, MANY women who have outdated, sexist ideas about men (like how men do not make good teachers). These misandrous, male-bashing women tend to have contradictory ideas about how men should treat women, as well. For example, women should be able to dress as "trashy" as they like - it is their RIGHT to do so, after all - but, men should not treat them as sexual objects, when they do so. This is my interpretation of that contradictory attitude (hence, the skimpy crop top with the "interesting" slogan).
