Even though the idea for the artwork came from another place, this painting's title was inspired by a lyric from the Harry Connick, Jr. song, "Learn to Love". I listened to the song many times, over and over again, during the creation of this work. The title just seemed to fit, after a while.

What was I thinking here? Well, as a man, I find myself envious, sometimes, of the camaraderie between women...especially apparent in their intimate conversations, with each other. The "green-with-envy" men are represented by the totally separate planet, in the background....the one with the symbols for "male" as the land masses.

Beauty and the Beast

This painting talks about my interpretation of the real enemy of beauty - not a hairy ape, swinging at airplanes atop the Empire State Building, but age and death. Most people have a hard time believing the ultimate truth: the person on the right will eventually look like the figure on the left.
