Rubella:Runny Nose and Ear infections
Rubella or Red Measles is a disease caused by a virus. It is easily spread by coughing and sneezing.
The Symtoms usually consist of a slight fever followed by cold-like symtoms.A rash may follow which spreads from the face to the chest and body.The sickness lasts about three days. Sometimes,especially in women over 15 years old,there may be swelling and aching of the joints for a while.Very rarely,rubella can cause inflammation of the brain (encephalitis).
Prevention:Measles and Rubella can be prevented by vaccination.A combination vaccine,MR (Measles,Rubella), is available to protect against both diseases.
Individual vaccines against measles and rubella are also available but generally used only in special circumstances.
