ASTRONOMY FOR YOUTH, INC.

 

Programs for 2004:

 

 February 17th Tuesday 9 am to 2 pm; AFY members Tammy and Curt to Crestline school for teacher Susan Bodnyk  to put on a astronomy program for grades 7 and 8, 140 youth’s participated.

 

 February 24th Tuesday 10 am to 2:30 pm, AFY members Tammy, Curt and Tim returned to Crestline Schools for teacher Susan Bodnyk to continue programs and set-up telescopes for grades 7 and 8 with another 140 kids participating.

 

March 20th Saturday at dusk, Astronomy for Youth, Inc first star party for 2004 at Malabar Farm with 6 members and 2 visitors.  Weather; rain then clearing.  Observed for 2 hours.

 

March 23rd 9 am to 3 pm at Mansfield St Peters School, teacher was Mrs. Leif, AFY members Tammy, Curt and Robert held programs and solar viewing for 8 students and 3 adults.  News Journal also Present.

 

April 17th Saturday, AFY display and solar viewing at Malabar Farm for visitor’s spring walk tour.  Approx 30 visitors viewed the sun through 2 filtered telescopes and one visitor took several pictures of the sun through our telescopes.  Weather conditions were windy with gusts up to 20 mph and partly cloudy skies.

 

April 17th Saturday, AFY’s public night.  AFY members Robert, Tammy, Greg, Tim, Tricia, Curt and new member Bubba.  AFY had 30 visitors attending, including a Girl Scout troop which Tammy entertained with cool programs under very threatening skies. Viewing was cut short and meeting moved to a safer location. We HAZED Bubba as a new member and Greg bought all our food at Steak and Shake!

 

April 23rd Friday, AFY’s first sidewalk party at the Ontario Library, AFY members Greg, Kamin, Tammy, Tim and Tricia present.  24 people viewed the sun through 2 filtered scopes.  Weather; Temp 65, thin clouds.

 

 

April 24th Saturday, AFY sidewalk party at Kroger’s on Ashland Rd.  AFY members Greg, Tricia, Tom, Helen and Curt present. 50 visitors viewed the sun with 2 filtered scopes.  Weather; Temp 68, thin high clouds turning mostly cloudy by 5 pm.
