I tried not to let this hurt me - I barely knew the guy...at least my pain makes for a good poem. But I've learned my lesson.

I forgot my pain when I thought about you.
I'm not sure you even knew I felt it.
I heard your voice and I smiled.
But you were just playing around with me.
You were my first hope for something good.
You allowed me to be deceived.
You didn't think a thing about my feelings.
Thanks for reminding me why I hate this world.

Don't feel any remorse - it was my deception.
I simply lost sight of my goal.
I knew that the way you made me feel
was distracting me from the lonely life I'd planned.
This familiar pang of rejection in my heart -
I swore I'd never let myself feel it again.
It's good that you hurt me when you did,
before I allowed myself to fall too far.
