#004. Love Isn't Supposed to Be Forever

I.

When love is over,
When love is gone,
People find a way
To move on.

Did people never
Know how to love --
Really love --
Love for all their lives --
Or is it just these times
We're living in?

But this world
Is choked with people --
There's no point in holding onto ghosts.

II.

I don't want to see you --
I don't want to meet your wife --
The reality of you
Would be much too much to bear --

Does anyone love
Like this anymore?

III.

Forever means:
Until you break up
Until someone better comes along
Until you don't feel like it anymore.

Forever's just another word
That's evolved over time.

Update the dictionary.

Times have changed.

IV.

You were my island
When I was drowning --

And now you are my home.

V.

Love isn't supposed to be forever --

If it was,
Our first love
Would always be our last.

It's not an admirable thing
To cling onto something that's already gone --

(Or that was never there to begin with.)

VI.

I don't want to see you --
I don't want to know anything about you --
Because everything you are now
Has nothing to do with me.

And everything you are to me
Is the ghost of what you used to be.

VII.

Forever's just another word
That's evolved over time.

But forever shouldn't mean forever
In times like these.
