Manik Dhara Falls
Pilgrims first visit the
Manik Dhara falls which are about 2 miles from the
Dargah. It is a treat to watch water falling from a
height of 30 feet. It presents different spectacles at
different times of the day. People watch it for hours
without getting bored. Dada used to bathe here. He had
prayed to God that it should never dry up, and it should
have healing qualities. People possessed by evil spirits
are terribly afraid of bathing in this water. Persons
suffering from chronic ailments and undiagnosed and so
called incurable diseases feel better after bathing here.
That is why all pilgrims bathe here. Close by is a spot
where Dada used to sit in meditation.
Paras Bouda
As you come up after
bathing at the Manik Dhara falls, you find a peak to your
right which contains a cave and an unfathomed well which
is called "Paras Bauda". Paras means the legendary
philosopher's stone, which can convert a base metal into
gold. Bauda means a well. This was Dada's seminary where
many eminent Aulia received instruction and training from
him. Any person who was admitted into this seminary
became "Golden"; hence the name "Paras Bauda". Even
today, people who prefer a quiet secluded place for
meditation choose this spot. The institution attends to
their needs and comforts.
Moti Talab
This tank surrounded by
hillocks and forests is on the way to Manik Dhara falls.
It is these forests and hills which contain the renowned
medicinal herbs. The tank-bed when dry, is full of a type
of grass which grows in certain seasons. It's seeds are
just like pearls and they are of great medicinal value.
That is why this tank is called "Moti Talab". This area
has been a battle field in the past and many pious men
laid down their lives including Hazrat Jan-e-Pak Shaheed
and Hazrat Malik Wazeer Ispahani whose graves are inside
the Dargah. Close to this tank is the spot where many of
the martyrs are buried and which is called
"Ganj-e-Shaheedan" (the treasure of the
martyrs).
Palang Talab
There is a lovely lake
called "Palang Talab" about 2 1/2 miles from the Dargah.
The road is motorable. This is the lake beside which Mama
Jigni's cot was abandoned. Strong winds blow here, hence
it is also called "Gali Kere". It is called "Bida
Teertha" also. Once a year a grand festival is celebrated
here, in which the Hindus of the neighborhood bring their
deities here and bathe them in the lake.
Jannat Nagar
About 2 1/2 miles from
the Dargah, there is a Lingayat Mutt known as Shri Palhar
Swamy Mutt. This area was once under the rule of Ballala
Kings. While Dada lived in the cave, his followers and
devotees lived in a township close to this region called
Jannat Nagar. They were constantly harassed by the petty
chieftains of the neighborhood. Once there was a grim
battle in which many pious men were killed. After this,
the remaining population migrated to Budan Nagar
(Athigundi) which has been a habitation of many noble men
and pious men ever since then. Jannat Nagar today has
only the graves of those martyrs among whom, were Hazrat
Syed Malik Abu Sayeed alias Malik Junair and Hazrat Syed
Ahmed alias Malik Kabir who formerly lived in the court
of Ali Adil Shah. Only a foot-tract connects it with the
Dargah. The path is very difficult, passing through many
steep ups and downs. Hence it is called "Jannat Ki
Seedhi" (the ladder to heaven). The annual "Urs" is
celebrated a day after the Urs of Dada's Dargah.
