Goldwater Institute Names Damon Chetson as Vice President
PHOENIXDamon Chetson, former director of educational programs at the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) at George Mason University, has been named vice president of the Goldwater Institute. Im thrilled to join Goldwater, Chetson said. As an ardent supporter of school choice programs and a firm believer in the power of free enterprise, Ive long admired the work of the Goldwater Institute.
As vice president, Chetson will assist president Darcy Olsen with program development and management, and oversee fundraising efforts. Olsen stated, The Goldwater Institute has doubled its budget and research capacity in the past two years. Damons management, operations, and program experience will be instrumental in shaping the Institutes continued growth.
As a director at IHS, Chetson managed the growth of the Institutes educational programs from 500 to nearly 1,000 students each year. He also established the Journalism Internship Program, a collaboration between IHS and Freedom Communications, Inc. to place aspiring reporters at Freedom newspapers around the country. Chetson managed the Institutes seminars, colloquia, and websites, introducing thousands of young people to the nations founding principles. He earned his bachelors degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and holds a masters degree in history from the University of Virginia.
