-Nadu and Tower are the two most basic Gorean positions. A new slave needs to learn these first.
-Sometimes in nadu or tower the wrists are crossed in front as though for binding.
*Priest-Kings of Gor - Book # 3 pg 46 "the position of the Tower Slave, in which Vika now knelt, differs from that of a free woman only in the position of the wrists which are held before her and, when not occupied, crossed as though for binding. A free woman’s wrists are never so placed."
-Thentis (a variation of nadu or tower)
The slave assumes nadu or tower then the wrists are crossed behind the
back instead of upon thighs. This gives the effect of the chest or breasts being
thrust forward, even further enhancing the appearance.
Nadu
The slave sits upon their heels with their back and shoulders
straight, chest out, belly in, and head up, with eyes averted slightly downcast.
The slaves thighs are open, widely spread and hands rest upon their thighs palms
downward (upward for their owner or someone special at times). "Nadu"
come from the Gorean word for "kneel" and it is also called the
position of a pleasure slave.
*Priest-Kings of Gor - Book # 3 pg 46 "The hands of the Pleasure Slave normally rest upon her thighs but, in some cities, for example Thentis, I believe, they are crossed behind her. More significantly, for the free women may also rest upon her thighs, there is a difference in the placement of the knees.
*Explorers of Gor - Book 13 pg 77 "Nadu!" he snapped. She swiftly turned, facing him, and dropped to her knees. She knelt back on her heels, her back straight, her hands on her thighs, her head up, her knees wide. It was the position of the pleasure slave.
Tower
It is the same as nadu except the thighs are closed modestly
together. This variation is typically reserved for new or white silk
slaves or slaves who serve their owner in a non-sexual way. The Tower position
is also used by all slaves serving drinks to a Freeperson of the same gender as
themselves.
Bara or Belly
The slave falls to their stomach, face down to the floor and turned to
the left, crosses their wrists behind their back, and similarly crosses their
ankles, legs straight, in preparation for binding. "Bara" is the
Gorean word for "belly."
Explorers of Gor - Book # 13 pg 77, "Bara, Kajira!," he said. She rolled quickly to her stomach, placing her wrists behind her, crossed, and crossing her ankles, ready to be bound."
Belly (or Belly two)
The slave falls to the floor, face down, arms at his/her sides, legs
spread wide as they crawl to the Freeperson. (see third obeisance position)
Bracelets or chaining
The slave stands with their head turned to the left and places their
hands behind the back, shoulders pushed back, hips slightly turned to one side,
back and shoulders erect, chest thrust outward, with wrists crossed behind the
back in anticipation of having slave bracelets attached to the wrists.
Hunters of Gor - Book # 8 pg 146, "Bracelets," he snapped. She put her head in the air and placed her hands behind her back.
Crawl
The slave gets down on all fours with their palms flat on the floor,
bottom high in the air, forehead close but not to the floor, as they crawl inch
by inch to the Freeperson.
Display
The slave stands with legs slightly parted, enough for a hand to be
placed between their legs, standing on the balls of their feet with the back and
legs straight. The chin is level to the ground, eyes lowered in respect and
submission with wrists crossed behind the small of their back.
Gorean Bow
The slave kneels in nadu position and bends the their body backwards,
head to the floor, placing hands by their head, and pulls up into a back bend.
(not found in the novels but accepted on this port)
Gorean Usage or classic Usage Position
The slave falls to all fours, head up, eyes forward, thighs spread
wide, bottom thrust into the air, to await the use of the Freeperson. (not found
in the novels but accepted on this port)
Hair
In this position the slave stands, feet flat on the floor, and bows
gracefully at the waist, that their hair might fall forward for display, or to
be shorn, seized, or used for any purpose that the Freeperson desires.
Heel
The slave goes to Freeperson and kneels behind their left foot,
awaiting their movement whereupon the slave stays to their left and slightly
behind them following the Freeperson as they move usually in an open area about
10ft behind them and to the left, in crowded areas the slave may heel one step
behind them him on their left. However, a slave who is not in favor of the
Freeperson will be commanded to kneel and heel upon the Freeperson's right side.
Slave Girl of Gor - Book # 11 pg 30, "Once he turned, and with the spear, indicated the position and the distance at which I should follow. These things vary, I learned, from city to city, and depend, also, on such matters as contexts and conditions. In a market, in the crowding and jostling, for instance, a girl may follow so closely she pressed against the back of his left shoulder. Girls seldom follow behind and on the right. If she is thusly placed, it is commonly a sign she is in disfavor. If more than one girl is involved, she who follows most closely on the left is generally taken to be in highest favor; girls compete for this position. In an open area, such as the fields in which we trekked, the girl is placed usually some five or ten feet behind, and on the left. If he must move suddenly she will not, thusly, constitute an impediment to his action.
Inspection
The slave stands and lifts their arms above their head elbows bent
slightly, wrist crossed, tilting the head back and licking their parted lips.
The slave turns their hips to her Freeperson and bends their knees slightly.
The slave's head is turned to the left offering their collar as well.
Karta
The slave kneels on the floor, thighs spread widely to allow their
chest upon the floor, leaning forward and placing their chest and forehead
against the floor, reaching out with arms fully extended, palms against floor.
Ankles may be crossed or uncrossed. Shows utmost respect. Requests by
slaves may be made from this position. (not found in the novels but accepted on
this port)
(Alternate of Karta) Suga
This position is very similar to Karta but in this a slave's wrists
are crossed. The slave kneels with their knees wide apart and lays their
head to the floor. The slave's forehead is down , and arms are stretched
over the head with the wrists crossed, lying quietly.
Ko-lar (collar) or submission
The slave kneels at the feet of the Freeperson and leans their body
back, sitting upon their heels, with arms extended upward, crossed at the
wrists, and head beneath them lowered in supplication. The Gorean word "Ko-lar,"
means the same as the Earth word "collar," and is only spelled "ko-lar"
once in the books, and then only to phonetically illustrate how to say the word.
Tarnsman of Gor - Book # 1 pgs 93-94, "Then, to my astonishment, the daughter of the Ubar Marlenus, daughter of the Ubar of Ar, knelt before me, a simple warrior of Ko-ro-ba, and lowered her head, lifting and extending her arms, wrists crossed. It was the submission of the captive female. Without raising her eyes from the ground, the daughter of the Ubar said in a clear, distinct voice: "I submit myself." I was speechless for a moment, but then, remembering that harsh Gorean custom required me either to accept the submission or slay the captive, I took her wrists in my hands and said, "I accept your submission."
Leading Position
The slave stands and moves behind the Freeperson bending at the waist.
The slave places their hands behind them and puts the side of their head against
the Freeperson's hip, that they might lead the slave easily by the hair or
collar while walking.
Lesha or Binding
The slave kneels with their back to their Freeperson, with chin lifted
and head turned to the left, offering their collar for leashing. Wrists are
behind their back, ready, if needed, to be snapped into slave bracelets or
bound. "Lesha," translates to Gorean as "leash."
High lesha
The slave stands with their back to the Freeperson, hands crossed at
the small of the back, feet in line with their shoulders, back and shoulders
slightly arched, chest thrusting forward, head held high and tilted to the left
with eyes lowered in respect and submission.
Explorers of Gor - Book # 13 pg 77, "Lesha," snapped the second officer to the blond girl. She spun from facing him, and lifted her chain, turning her head to the left, placing her wrists behind her, as though for snapping them into slave bracelets.
Master's Kiss
The Freeperson takes the slave's hair in their hand and yanks back the
slave's head hard as they pulls back on their hair exposing the neck and face to
them. The Freeperson then attacks the slave's lips with their own lips
kissing them passionately and powerfully, taking their top lip between their
teeth and biting down on it. The Freeperson then takes the slave's bottom
lip and sucks on it biting down on it as well as they continue to kiss the
slave. The Freeperson then kisses the exposed neck of the slave and drags their
tongue across the slave's neck.
Obedience
The slave lays upon their stomach, face down before the Freeperson
turning their head and placing their cheek against their feet. They kiss
the Freeperson's feet lightly in a gesture of love and submission.
Obeisance
These three variations are found in Mercenaries of Gor
-First
In this common position of Gorean slave obeisance, the slave kneels
and sits upon their heels with their back and shoulders straight, chest out,
belly in, and head bowed. The thighs are open, widely spread.
Mercenaries of Gor - book # 21 pg 409, "There are many ways to perform obeisance. "I said. "I am a free woman," she said, " I know none of them." "I shall instruct you briefly in three," I said. " First kneel before me, back on your heels, yes, with your knees wide, wider, your hands on your thighs, your back straight, your breasts out, good, your belly in, good, and now lower your head in deference, in submission."
-Second
In this position the slave leans their body forward from a nadu
position, hair falling forward as they place their forehead onto the floor,
palms resting on the ground with outstretched hands on both sides of the head.
The slave then slowly raises their head, on the Freeperson's command, inches
from the floor, shifting forward so the face is hovering over the Freeperson's
feet. The slave then begins to lick and kiss their feet as ordered. (this
is not called karta in the novels)
Mercenaries of Gor - book # 21 pg 410, "Now" I said, " and this is clearly a form of obeisance, bend forward and put your head to the mat, the palms of your hands on the mat. Good. Now lift your head little and come forward, substantially keeping the position. Forward a little more." " But then my face will be at your feet," she said," My lips will be over them!" "Yes," I said, "Good, now, put your head down and lick and kiss my feet." "I am a free Woman!" She Said. "You are a woman," I said," now softly lingeringly, and lovingly, Good." "I am not a slave," she said. "All women are slaves, "I said." "Imagine what this would be like if you were truly a collared slave." She gasped.
-Third Obeisance or Belly Position
In this position of Gorean slave obeisance, the slave lowers
themselves onto their belly on the floor. They then inch forward, remaining low
on their belly, and upon reaching the Freeperson's feet, begin to lick and kiss
their feet. The slave then takes the Freeperson's foot and places it
gently upon their own head. Once again the slave then lowers the
Freeperson's foot back to the floor, and kisses it again. The slave then may
inch backwards a bit, still on their belly, humbly. This command is not the same
as "Bara" or "Belly". It shows complete submissiveness
that a Freeperson has total control.
Mercenaries of Gor - Book # 21 pgs 410 - 411, "Now" I said, "for a third form of obeisance. You may belly to me." "I do not understand," she whispered. "There are various forms of bellying, " I said, and bellying may be suitably and pleasingly combined with other forms of floor movements, approaching the Master on all fours, turning to your sides and back, writhing before him, and so on. We will take a very simple variation, suitable for an ignorant free female who has not yet even begun to discover the depths of her sexuality." She looked up at me. "On your belly," I said. She backed off a bit , and went to her belly. Her hair was before her face, as she now on her belly before me looked up at me. "Now inch forward," I said, " remaining low on your belly, and when you reach my feet, once again, as before, lifting your head a little, tenderly and humbly, and beautifully, as though you were a slave , lick and kiss them. Good. Good. Now take my foot and place it gently on your head. Very good. Now place it again on the Mat, and kiss it again. Good. You may now belly back a little, humbly. I have not yet given you permission to rise of course."
Placate
This command is can be either ordered by the Freeperson or begged for
by the slave. The slave is usually always in the nadu position at a Freeperson's
feet. The slave then leans over and starting at his feet, begins to lick,
kiss and stroke them, working their way up the Freeperson's body, pleasuring
them with their lips, tongue, and hands to the very best of their ability.
Rogue of Gor - Book # 15 pg 21, "She trembled. I now stood over her, the slave whip in my hand. I drew it back, then I threw it aside, angrily. I crouched down. Then I jerked her head up, by the hair. "Permission to placate," she begged, reaching for me with her lips and mouth. But I held her, by the hair, from me. She whimpered, denied. Then I released her hair and permitted her to touch me. "Thank you, Master," she whispered. She was a slave. I would permit her to attempt to placate me, in one of the ancient fashions of the female slave.
Prostate Position
The slave kneels and touches their forehead to the floor, stretching
their hands out before them with palms face down, fingers spread. (not found in
the novels but accepted on this port)
Run
When this command is given, the slave runs toward their objective,
taking short rapid steps, with legs almost straight, feet hardly leaving the
floor. As they move, their back is straight, head is turned to the left, and
arms are at their sides, palms facing outward at a 45 degree angle to the body.
Upon reaching the objective the slave drops gracefully to their knees and
typically resumes the position of nadu.
Assassin of Gor - Book # 5 pg 45, "I was amused, for she had run as a slave girl is sometimes taught to run, with rapid short steps, her legs almost straight, head turned to the left, arms at her sides, palms out at a forty-five degree angle, more of a dancer's motions than a true run.
She Sleen
Also known as "assuming the modality of the she-quadruped." In this
position, the slave falls to their hands and knees, head down on the floor,
forearms resting flush to the ground, thighs spread wide, with hindquarters
upthrust for the viewing or the Freeperson's pleasure. "Serving in the
modality of the she-quadruped" is an instruction whereby the slave performs
their regular duties upon hands and knees, without the benefit of the use of
their hands. In this mode the slave may not rise to their feet and may use only
their mouth and teeth to grasp and manipulate objects.
Guardsman of Gor - Book # 16 pg 298, "Now on all fours, arms straight, head up!" I said. Immediately she assumed this position. "Please do not put me in the slavery of the she-quadruped, Master," she begged. "I will put you there, and keep you there, if it pleases me," I told her. "Yes, Master," she said.
Slave Lips
When this command is given, the slave turns their head up to the
Freeperson, lips pursed in a sensual kissing position. The slave remains
motionless, lips thusly puckered, and may not move until the slave is granted
the kiss of the Freeperson.
Slaver's Kiss Position
The slave falls to the floor upon all fours, and lowers their
head to the ground, with the bottom thrust upward and the thighs widely spread,
exposing the hindquarters fully in preparation for the caress of the leather
against the body.
Stand
When this command is given, the slave stands with their left hip out
and the toes of the left foot pointed. Belly is in, head up, eyes down, arms to
sides with palms facing forward.
Sula or Prone
In this position, a slave lays upon their back, hands at their sides,
palms upward, legs widely spread, to await the Freeperson's pleasure or
inspection.
Explorers of Gor - Book # 13 pg 77, "Sula, Kajira!" said the man. She slid her legs from under her and lay on her back, her hands at her sides, palms up, legs open.
Sula-Ki
Same as sula but slave lifts their hips off the floor. (not found in
the novels but accepted on this port)
Table
The slave goes down on all fours, locking elbows, making the back
smooth and level and holding the head level so that the Freeperson may use them
as a table. (not found in the novels but accepted on this port)
Tile position
When Freepersons pass by in a hallway, room, or otherwise, slaves are
to stop what the are doing and go down to their knees into tower or nadu, and
then quickly lower their forehead to the floor, their arms outstretched and
remain in this still position until the free person, or persons have completely
passed by, or the Freeperson decides to command the slaves otherwise. This
position is NOT called "kar-ta".
Kajira of Gor - Book # 19 pgs 145-146, "As we approached, she oriented herself towards us, palms of her hands on the floor, and put her head to the tiles. But, as we neared her, she lifted her head, desperately. "Hermidorus!" she cried suddenly. "Hermidorus!" He stopped before her, a few feet from her, and we stopped, too, behind him. "Do you not know me?" she begged. "Deirdre!" she cried. "Deirdre! Two years ago in Ar we lived in the same building!" He looked at her, not speaking. "Deirdre," she whimpered. "In the instant you were imbonded, you ceased to be Deirdre, Girl," he said. "Girl?" she said. “What is your House name?" he asked. She looked up at him, her lower lip trembling. " 'Renata" is my house name," she said. He then removed his belt from his tunic. "You lifted you head from the tile position before free persons had passed you, Renata," he said. "You also addressed a free man twice by his name. Similarly your speech has been inadequately deferential. It has not been interspersed, at appropriate points, for example, by the expression 'Master.' You have also referred to yourself as though you might still be 'Deirdre.' Such falsification of identity are not permitted to slaves. Deirdre is gone. In her place there is now only a slave, an animal, who must wear whatever name Masters choose to put on her. Similarly, when asked a question, that pertaining to your house name, you did not respond with sufficient promptness. Do you understand all that I am saying fully and clearly, Renata?" She looked up at him, tears in her eyes. "Yes, Master," she said.
Walk
When this command is given, the slave turns in a graceful pirouette,
hair swinging. The slave then walks, gliding across the room, feet hardly
seeming to leave the floor, hips swaying sensually, body erect and proud.
When the reaches the objective they halt and stand, body erect, shoulders back,
chest thrust forward, belly in. the slave turns their hips out a bit, hands at
their sides, and points one foot. The head is up and the eyes are lowered.
Whipping Position
In this position the slave in on their knees in the nadu position,
hands are in front crossing them at the wrists over the chest or breasts. The
slave then becomes hunched over, head turned to the left touching the floor,
tossing the hair over one side of the shoulders so that the back might be
utterly exposed to the whip and to also keep the fine blades of the Gorean slave
whip from cutting the slave's hair. After this position is used, the slave
drops to the ground on their belly and kisses the Freeperson's feet, thanking
them for spending their precious time on such a slave.
Captive of Gor - Book # 7 pg 200, "I went to Targo, trembling, and knelt at his feet, I crossed my wrists beneath me and touched my head to the floor, exposing the bow of my back. It is the submissive posture of a slave girl who is to be punished. It is called Kneeling to the Whip.
Wordless Expressions of a Slave
-A BONDAGE KNOT - A bondage knot, a loose overhand knot tied in the hair over the right side of the face, is a slave's wordless plea to be used sexually by the Freeperson, and should be directed at one person only, not the entire room.
-PALMS UP - When kneeling in tower or nadu before a Freeperson, a slave placestheir hands on their thighs facing palms up and open, thus presenting the soft flesh of their palms to the Freeperson. Among slaves, this is a common way of signaling need, helplessness, and a desire to please.
-TALENDERS - A talender either held or fixed in the hair or clothing is a slave's wordless expression, which commonly a slave dares not speak in words in public, that the slave cares deeply for a Freeperson and desires to be used by them. Again a slave must be careful this action is "aimed" at a particular Freeperson, not flashed to all in a room. It should be clear to all who the slave is wearing the talenders for.
-LARMA - Freely offering to feed larma, either real or imaginary, to a Freeperson is another way a slave shows desire for a particular Freeperson to use them sexually.
