Brother of catcher Bill Bergen (see his page). On January 19, 1900 Marty's father, Bill, discovered the bodies of Marty, his wife and two children in Marty's Worcester, MA farmhouse. Marty's wife and two children were dead from multiple blows from an ax with the bloody weapon nearby. In another room Marty lay dead, nearly decapitated from a slash by a straight razor. The incident was ruled a murder-suicide. (See Catcher Trivia page)
