Remember the old poltices and castor oil (yuck!) remedies that were guaranteed to cure what ever ailed you? Guess what? They actually worked! Though sometimes we all believed that the cure was worst than the illness.
Before we developed the cure-all pills that are redily available at evey corner drug store, we would seek out the wisdom of the those who, quite frankly, knew more about how to get you through the illness, hurts, aches etc... than most doctors today will admit. Plus it save us all hundreds of dollars in doctors and prescription bills. Between you and me, I always feel worst after leaving the doctors office, than I did when I arrived, must be the surgery that was done with out any deadening agent on my wallet.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could bring back thoses old time remedies and get healthier again??
Here is your chance to share with us all the remedies that your mother, grandmother, great grandmother etc.... Used to get you back on your feet.
Please submit any remedies or preventative tips that you can think of and we will post them and we will dedicate a special section of the Bath-Batt-Bott family website to Just old remedies.
(Just my own personal note: Please leave out the castor oil (yuck), we all know how it works, but if you must submit a use for it feel free to ..........um.......do so)
SYMPTOMS:Burns and scalds can be caused by heat, friction or chemicals. Large burns (anything larger than the palm of your hand) can lead to loss of body fluid, and require immediate medical attention.
The juice of the aloe vera plant is renowned for reducing pain, preventing infection, and promoting the healing of burns. Keep a plant in the house. To treat a burn, remove a leaf (taking care to avoid the thorns), slit it open, and rub the gel on the skin, allowing it to reach the burn. Aloe vera gel is available in natural food stores and pharmacies.
Honey is also a good healing agent. For minor burns, spread a thin layer on the
injured area and cover with a loose dressing. Repeat every 2 or 3 days.
