The first All-Star Game was in 1933 and the AL/NL Managers chose the entire squad (Starters and Reserves) until 1946. From 1947 to 1957 Fans chose the Starters and from 1947 to the Present the
Managers chose the Reserves. From 1958 to 1969 Players, Coaches and MLB Managers chose the Starters. Beginning in 1970 the Fans chose the Starters. Beginning in 2002 the Fans vote
for the Final ASG slot for each League and if a catcher is selected then he
becomes a Reserve.
