Bertell hit .273 and .302 as a part-timer in 1961 and 1962. Catching a career-high
110 games for the Cubs in 1964, Bertell tied for the NL lead in errors (11). Traded
to the Giants in May 1965, Bertell hit just .188 in 22 games for San Francisco. A
knee injury kept him out for all of 1966, and a return to Chicago in 1967 was unsuccessful.
