Dave Huppert makes his home in Zephyr Hills, Florida along with his wife Linda and their two daughters, Tracy and Megan, and son Todd. He is a former minor and major league catcher who was selected as the Brevard County Manatees (Florida Marlins) fourth manager on December 1, 1998. He led the Manatees to a 27 and 40 first half record and to a 34 and 34 second half for a combined 61-74 overall record in 1999.
Dave joined the Marlins organization after six years in the Chicago White Sox organization. He piloted the Birmingham Barons (AA) of the Southern
League to a 76-52 record in 1997 and to a 58-72 mark in 1998. Huppert joined the White Sox as a bullpen catcher in 1992. He went on to manage Sarasota of the Florida State League in 1993, then led Prince William of the Carolina League for three years (1994-96). Dave managed in the Milwaukee Brewers system from 1986 to 1991 prior to joining the White Sox. He was named California League Manager of the Year in 1988.
Dave Huppert was signed as a free agent catcher by the Baltimore Orioles in 1977, and his playing career included nine minor league seasons. He also played in the majors with the Baltimore Orioles. Dave attended Golden West Junior College in Huntington Beach,
California.
