Hall of Fame catcher, Raymond William Cracker Schalk played for 18 years (1912-1929) primarily in the American League for the Chicago White Sox, and
his last year with the New York Giants. He led all catchers in Fielding Average five times. Schalk played all of his games as a catcher. Ray was a member of the infamous
1919 Chicago "Black Sox" but was never involved in the scandal. He was elected to the Hall Of Fame in 1955 by the Veterans' Committee.

Hall of Fame catcher, William Buck Ewing played for 18 years (1880-1897) in the National League for Troy, New York, Cleveland, and
Cincinnati. He led the league in Home Runs (10) in 1883 and in Triples (20) in 1884. His career total of 178 Triples is the all-time high for catchers. Besides
backstop, Ewing also played 1B, OF, 3B, 2B, SS, and even pitched.

seasons with the Reds and the Giants. He won the N.L. Batting Title in 1938 & 1942 and was named an All-Star eight times. He was N.L. MVP in 1938.

Hall Of Fame Catcher, Josh Gibson was considered the greatest hitter of the black baseball leagues. Called the "Black Babe Ruth",
Gibson hit about 800 home runs in the 17 years he played, including 75 in the 1931 season. He played mostly for teams in and around Pittsburgh, including the
Homestead Grays and the Pittsburgh Crawfords. Gibson was inducted into the HOF in 1972.
