There have been 107 catchers who were also umpires, briefly or post-playing career. Some were umps during their playing days. Two ex-catchers had long careers umpiring. Charlie Moran was a catcher for 2 years (1903, 1908) then began umpiring in the majors in 1917 until 1939, amassing 23 years calling plays. Charlie Berry played for 11 years as a catcher (1925-38) then began a career as an umpire in 1942. He retired after 1962 with 22 years officiating. Then in 1970 he came out of retirement to again ump during the umpire's strike. The following list are the catchers who also umpired along with the number of years that they officiated in the majors.
