I am sure that most of you learnt about the Shakespearean tragedy Othello.
Othello demonstrates power, both in good and bad ways. For those of you who haven't studied the text Othello, I will briefly explain what happens durning the text.
We are presented with a hero ---> an exceptional individual occupying an influential position.
- this character is basically a good man, but is flawed in some way which causes his loss of power.
- the audience usually feels some pity for the character because they have witnessed him becoming powerless.
The main characters of Othello are:
Othello, Desdemona, Brabantio, Iago, Emilia, Roderigo, Cassio and Bianca.
There are five different acts in the play Othello.
Durning Act 1 the characters we meet are Iago, Roderigo and Brabantio. By watching Iago's movements and listening to him talking we soon realise that Iago will be one of the main characters that displays power.
We see that durning the different acts, that Iago is very two faced and can manipulate people with his use of power, he abuses his power, and abuses the people he uses it on.
