Subject:    Re: List of subsidized housing projects in Cedar Rapids,Iowa

(Charlotte Wrote)

I cannot find a list of subsized housing projects in Iowa. I am especially interested in projects -- to begin with -- in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Iowa HUD pages only give information about section 8 offices. I compared that information to what is available in the adjoining state of Minnesota. Minnesota lists all of their subsized projects, organized by city. Is there a HUD regulation that would require the Iowa HUD office to provide a list of subsidized housing projects?

I will appreciate your help on this.

We apologize for not having the information posted on our web page as of yet. I directed your message to our Director and it will probably be made a priority soon.

If we can be of any more assistance, please let us know.

Thank you for your prompt answer. I am surprised but greatly appreciate your help. Is there any way to encourage the Iowa HUD office to put this information available on their web pages like Minnesota does? It would be helpful to the public to be able to easily access that information.

Thanks again.

Subject:    Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program

Dear Mr Ray: I'm interested to know if your office dictates the form of the applications used for projects financed with funds from the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program.

A new project here in Cedar Rapids has a 12 page application -- very intrusive and quite offensive to independent people. The 12 page application has an additional 10 pages of instructions and information about their complicated tenant selection process.

Metro Area Housing Program staff has told me that the long application is due to requirements of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program. If that is the case, please send me a copy of the section of the regulations that require the long intrusive application. I have other questions about the new Odasa project developed by MAHP. Please inform me of the person in charge of MAHP's account, including his e-mail address.

I need to know if the Low Income Housing Tax Credit progam dictates the application form for rental properties developed using that form of funding. Don't tell me to call. Please reply by e-mail or if Iowa Finance Authority doesn't respond to the public by e-mail, tell me why.

The Metro Area Housing Program here in Cedar Rapids has stated that their 12 page application is required by the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program. Is that true? If so, where does that requirement come from? Iowa Finance Authority? The federal government? Some committee? Where?

Subject:    Cancel my Osada application

I am convinced that I could not be happy renting from such a paternalistic landlord. The more I learn about MAHP, the more curious I get. After today's meeting of the Rental Policy Council, I am certain that I would not want to live at Osada. The building could be such an interesting place for people who like to live downtown. But I fear that it will be overcrowded with too many children. And I doubt that the building will be a good place to live for independent single people.

Consequently please withdraw my application. I am no longer interested.

I'm looking for information on the "Low Income Tax Credit Program" that is being used in connection with financing housing for lower income people. I do not know at this point if the program is an IRS program or a HUD program. I recently heard about it and I have many questions. Please send me a booklet that explains the program. I'm particularly interested to know if IRS publishes a list of what the buyers of those credits actually paid the developer for the credits.
