Chapter 1: It Matters What The Bible SaysTrust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. In the early part of this century a movement which had begun in the previous century began to grow. This movement has been called by some, "the women's movement." Not because this movement is in any way a positive movement for women. In fact women since the movement began are less healthy, more stressed, have more emotional problems, and have far more problems relating to other people. Their fathers, brothers, husbands, other women, and most importantly their children. Rather this movement is called the women's movement because it focuses on women as it's champion group. This movement has developed much the same way as the Nazi party rose to power in Germany. First in order to have cause to hang their evil platform on the Nazis pointed to a series of real social problems for the German people. Crime, drugs, poor education, poverty, family values declining. These problems were very real in Germany. The working class people became the focus group of the Nazis who declared themselves the champions of the people. After having chosen a series of 'issues,' and choosing a group to champion, the Nazis chose a group of scapegoats to vilify to the working people. By blaming the problems of the working people on their affluent Jewish neighbors the Nazis succeeded in getting the working people stirred up against the Jews. The result was that the working people gave the Nazis the support they needed to become the dominant political force in the country. The Nazi platform promised to deal with the Jewish problem and thus eliminate the social problems the working people now blamed on them. Similarly, the women of this country have been manipulated by a group of power hungry socialites who desired to effect a liberal political platform. These liberals began steadily telling the women of this country how unhappy they were. Being wives and mothers, as God intended, was called a demeaning way of life. Moreover it was called 'unequal.' Much like repeating an advertising slogan such as, "where's the beef?" can eventually impress the public to change eating habits. These radical liberals kept up their mantras of Equal Rights and Women's Liberation even though most American women have never considered themselves to be feminists. Eventually, the message began to have an effect. Many of today's REAL societal problems can be traced back to this movement. One of the side effects of this movement has been that women have turned in their time-honored dresses and feminine clothing and gone searching for the garments of their fathers and husbands. Why? Because even though most women still believe that dresses are more feminine they prefer the functionality of men's style clothing. If women were still fulfilling the roles for which God created them it would not of course be necessary to seek a new uniform of service. As I approached this subject I knew right well that I would be risking a great deal of criticism from both Men and women. Nevertheless I cannot shrink from a subject which God's Word addresses in detail and still be found to have preached the whole council of God. There are a lot of preachers who preach on the subject of God's dress code, there ranting goes something like this: "Well, bless God, this is the way you ought to dress. And this is the way you ought to dress, because I just told you this is the way you ought to dress. I just told you this is the way you ought to dress, because this is what my pastor taught me when I was a young Christian boy, how a lady or a man ought to dress. So you just do what I say, because I'm the preacher." And people either do it or they rebel against it. But I believe there are a lot of people who are not interested in the preacher's opinion. They are not interested in the Liberal Women's Movement and it's opinion. They are only interested in God's Word. If these willing Christians could actually be shown from the Bible what is right and what is wrong, they would do right. There are a lot of people in our churches who have been taught the truth but they do not live the truth, because even though they have been taught the truth, they have not been taught the truth from the Bible. They have been taught the truth from opinion. They have been taught the truth from tradition, but they have not been taught the truth from the Bible. I will give you a personal illustration of this. When I first met my wife, I basically told her how I wanted her to dress, and she just thought I was crazy. "Why should I dress like that?" "Because I am your husband and I told you to." Thank God, there was an older lady in our church who was able at that time to take the Bible and show her what I should have been able to show her, as a preacher. If I had been able to show her from the Bible, it would have saved us a lot of discord in the beginning of our marriage. There was even a time at the beginning of our marriage when she did what I told her to do, because I told her to do it, but she did it begrudgingly. But when she actually saw from the Bible what God expected, she no longer did it begrudgingly, but willingly. So I hope to be able to show you from the Bible what God expects. I do believe that it is a telling point that all fundamentalist preachers are not in agreement on this subject today. Notwithstanding that all fundamentalist WOMEN in God's Churches did believe that women and men should dress according to God's Word until very recently. There are several important reasons why this subject matters. God's Word reveals them all to us. In the coming pages I hope to accomplish more than just giving you a compelling argumentation for old-fashioned living. Although, I do not mind telling you that I do hope to accomplish that. For one thing, I am concerned about all of the precious people who are dying and waking in Hell. Many souls are now crying in torment because of the pitiful witness of God's people. We are so like the World around us that they cannot tell us apart. I want to see the World coming to us again and asking us what makes us different. Then we can tell them that it is not a what. It is a Whom (Jesus). But even more than that I have a burden for God's sons and daughters that they should experience their relationship with their Heavenly Father in the closeness and intimacy which God intended for them. This is not possible unless God's children have "come out from among (the world) and (are) separate" (II Corinthians 6:17-18). Then God can be to us a more real and personal Father. And we can be sons and daughters made in the image of our Father, fellowshipping and sharing our quiet time with Him in the cool of the day. Just as it was when the world was new and untouched by the sin of Man. Just as it shall be in the New World to come. Just as God intended.
