ETHELRED THE EARTHWORM

Ethelred's my earthworm;
He's beautifully slim,
But I find it far from easy
To communicate with him.

And though I've tried quite often
His response grows less and less;
If I knew which end to speak to
I might have more success.

So I thought, I'll wash his ears out
And get rid of all that muck;
Can you tell me where to find them ?
So far I've had no luck.
