In Spider-Man 3, Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) and Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) have been seeing each other for quite a while. Harry Osborn (James Franco) still has a vengeance for Peter, thinking that he killed his father. Meanwhile, Flint Marko (Thomas Haden Church) has escaped jail and becomes Sandman in the process of running from the police. Eddie Brock (Topher Grace) has taken over Peter’s job of photographer at his local newspaper. Peter and Mary Jane’s relationship is slowly declining. One night, Harry chases after Spider-Man and an accident results in the loss of his short-term memory, so when he wakes up, he doesn’t remember about his accusations towards Peter. Sandman is wreaking havoc all throughout New York and Spider-Man barely stops him many times. Peter wishes to propose to Mary Jane. When things start falling apart, Peter is engulfed by a black substance that later becomes his black Spidey suit. When wearing it, he feels good because of his power, but his manners and kindness all go down the drain.
